WE’RE HERE FOR YOU All UCF Housing communities have Resident Assistants (RAs) who help you make the most of your transition and experience at UCF. From campus resources to day-to-day events, your RA helps you with every facet of college life. Your RA takes the time to get to know you and helps you create connections within your community.

RESIDENT ASSISTANT

Kiernan Oknefski MAJOR: Biotechnology COMMUNITY: Lake Claire Favorite thing about living on campus: The supportive UCF atmosphere. Everyone seems to want to help each other succeed. Favorite RA memory: Bonding with residents and knowing that they actually appreciate the effort that I put in. Advice to first-year students: Go to as many events as possible, even if they don’t sound up your alley. You may meet someone new or discover something you really enjoy. Best takeaway: The friends I have made as an RA will be for life and they are people I would have never talked to had I not lived on campus.

Take some time to get to know your Resident Assistant. We are here to serve you and we can do that better if we know what you expect out of your college experience. Also, don’t be afraid to try new activities and expand your horizons. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” —Marissa Sowinski, Psychology major

KEY TO SUCCESS At UCF you won’t just learn in the classroom. Living on campus will help you learn about yourself, to better appreciate others and to be part of a community. Those experiences will give you an advantage in your career. Live on campus for one or more years and you’ll increase your chances of graduating on time by 30 percent or more. Get in, get out and get a head start on your career.

YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. WE HAVE ANSWERS. Q. Are first-year students guaranteed housing at UCF?

EATING ON A BUDGET Dining memberships provide you with options to get a fresh, healthy meal that’s affordable and within walking distance of on-campus housing. There are several dining memberships available for students. With a dining membership, you can eat at ’63 South in Ferrell Commons and Knightro’s by the CFE Arena. You’ll also be given a gift card to use at other on-campus eateries such as Chick-fil-A, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Java City, Pollo Tropical and more.

A. There are more students who request housing than can be accommodated, so it is very important to apply for housing as soon as you are offered admission. If the type of housing you request is full, we will give you the opportunity to switch to another type of UCF Housing based on availability. First-year housing is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Q. W hat is the difference between an academic-year (fall/spring) agreement and a year-round (fall/spring/ summer) agreement? A. T his is one of the first decisions you will make. Students who choose an academic-year agreement will live in their assigned room for fall 2017 and spring 2018, leaving during the winter break. Residents of the Rosen College Apartments will also have this type of agreement but are not required to leave during the winter break. Students who choose The Towers or NorthView will sign a year-round agreement for fall 2017, spring 2018 and summer 2018 — never having to leave during their agreement. Q. W here can I get more information on housing rates and options?

A. Up-to-date housing information is available at housing.ucf.edu. Rates are subject to change. Q. C an I bring my car to campus?

A. It’s not necessary to have a car at UCF, but parking is available for students living on campus. A shuttle system is available and serves the on- and off-campus apartment complexes. Parking information is available at parking.ucf.edu. Q. A re housing tours available? A. Y es. Daily housing tours of multiple communities are provided Monday through Friday, except on holidays. Details on in-person tours and video tours can be found at housing.ucf.edu/tours. You may also submit a request online for tours in Spanish.
