24 HR. ASSISTANCE

KEY TO CAMPUS LIFE All UCF Housing communities have Resident Assistants (RAs) on site. Your RA is here to help you make a smooth transition to UCF, create connections with other students in your community, and make the most of your experience as a Knight. From campus resources to exciting events, RAs are specially trained to guide you through every facet of college life.

GROW AND EXPLORE Our Housing and Residence Life staff creates a year-round learning plan that is designed to help you become a productive global citizen. It focuses on key concepts: community engagement, self-awareness, and equity and inclusion. You’ll learn something new by attending community meetings, talking with your RA and taking part in campus events. Online videos and newsletters will help you stay connected with neighbors.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT LIVING ON CAMPUS: I love being so close to everything, it really immerses you into the college experience!

FAVORITE RA MEMORY: I have so many great memories I can’t pick one, but my favorite thing to do as an RA is getting to personally know all of my residents. It’s so rewarding to be a resource for them and help them through their time at UCF.

ADVICE TO FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS: Put yourself out there, go to as many events as possible and be kind to everyone. You never know who you could end up making memories with.

LIVING LEARNING COMMUNITIES

DON’T JUST LIVE WHERE YOU LEARN,

LEARN WHERE YOU LIVE. A Living Learning Community is a group of students who live together on a floor or

within a building based on a common major, interest or program affiliation. This allows you to live and learn with a smaller group of students who have similar goals and experiences. To learn about our Living Learning Communities, go to housing.ucf.edu/llc.

Cool off in the 186,000-gallon leisure pool, or take a few laps in the lap pool.

Meet up with friends, grab a snack and take a break between classes.

Feel the burn with a wide array of exercise equipment in the Recreation and Wellness Center.

Cheer on the Knights at athletics venues across campus, including Spectrum Stadium.

Take a hike, plant a garden and explore nature in the 82-acre Arboretum. 11

FIRST THINGS FIRST,

PICK YOUR PREFERRED CAMPUS AND AGREEMENT TYPE

CAMPUS: MAIN LATER, CHOOSE YOUR ROOM AND ROOMMATES ONLINE ONLINE ROOM SELECTION Once your housing agreement has been submitted and confirmed, you can find roommates and choose a Living Learning Community, if you prefer. On your appointment date for online room selection, you will choose from the available rooms in your housing agreement type.

At UCF’s main campus, there are three different housing agreements. Each option will keep you connected to major campus happenings, from sporting events and concerts to traditions such as Spirit Splash. ACADEMIC-YEAR AGREEMENT The academic-year agreement includes fall and spring semesters only and is our most popular option for first-year students. Choosing this option means you will live in one of the following main campus communities: Apollo, Lake Claire, Libra, Neptune, Nike and Hercules.

UCF

has housing communities on three different campuses,

so location should be at the top of your list when deciding where to live. We offer five housing agreements, and each one includes a variety of floorplans for you to make your home in.

NORTHVIEW AGREEMENT The NorthView agreement is yearround and includes fall, spring and the following summer. Residents at NorthView enjoy private bedrooms and bathrooms in every apartment, along with amenities like a resort-style pool, game room and fitness center. TOWERS AGREEMENT The Towers at Knights Plaza agreement is year-round and includes fall, spring and the following summer. Private bedrooms with fullsize beds and a great location next to our on-campus shopping center make the Towers a popular option.

CAMPUS: UCF DOWNTOWN UNIONWEST AGREEMENT UnionWest at Creative Village offers a year-round agreement, which includes fall, spring and the following summer. UnionWest is a great option for Knights who are studying communications, digital media, public administration, legal studies, public affairs, and health management and informatics. In addition to being close to classes at UCF Downtown, students can find tons of opportunities in the heart of downtown Orlando.

BE SURE TO APPLY EARLY! Room-selection appointments are assigned based on when you complete your housing agreement. When applying, you only need to select your agreement type. Your specific community, building and room will be finalized later on during online room selection.

CAMPUS: ROSEN COLLEGE OF HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT ROSEN AGREEMENT The Rosen College Apartments agreement includes fall and spring, with the option of adding summer. For students looking to make it in the hospitality industry, Rosen College Apartments put you right in the center of Orlando’s bustling tourism industry.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

QUESTIONS Q: A RE FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS GUARANTEED HOUSING AT UCF? A: No. There are more students who request housing than can be accommodated, so it is very important to apply for housing as soon as you are offered admission. If the type of housing you request is full, you may have the opportunity to switch to another type of UCF Housing based on availability. First-year housing is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Q: W HAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ACADEMIC-YEAR (FALL AND SPRING) AGREEMENT AND A YEAR-ROUND (FALL, SPRING, AND SUMMER) AGREEMENT? A: This is one of the first decisions you will need to make. Students who choose an academic-year agreement will live in their assigned room for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, leaving during the winter break. Residents of the Rosen College Apartments will also have this type of agreement but are not required to leave during the winter break. Students who choose The Towers, NorthView or UnionWest will sign a year-round agreement for Fall 2020, Spring 2021 and Summer 2021 — never having to leave during their agreement.

Q: C AN I BRING MY CAR TO CAMPUS? A: It’s not necessary to have a car at UCF, but parking is available for students living on campus. A shuttle system is available and serves the on- and off-campus apartment complexes. Parking information is available at parking.ucf.edu. Q: A RE HOUSING TOURS AVAILABLE? A: Yes. Daily housing tours of multiple communities are provided Monday through Friday, except on holidays. Details on in-person tours and video tours can be found at housing.ucf.edu/tours. You may also submit a request online for tours in Spanish. Q: HOW DOES DINING ON CAMPUS WORK? A: Go to ucf.campusdish.com to choose from several optional dining memberships, each with access to UCF’s two dining halls — ’63 South in Ferrell Commons and Knightro’s by the CFE Arena. On-campus eateries are abundant, too, and include Chick-fil-A, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Café Bustelo, Pollo Tropical and more. You can also do your own cooking. Appliances permitted vary by room type. You can find those details at housing.ucf.edu/faq under “What to Expect.”

Q: W HERE CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION ON HOUSING RATES AND OPTIONS? A: Up-to-date housing information is available at housing.ucf.edu. Rates are subject to change.
