Joanne Posner-Mayer Endowed Chair in Physical Therapy This is the first endowed chair in the CU Physical Therapy Program, and supports the recruitment and retention of top faculty. Joanne Posner-Mayer (’73) launched a company, Fitball, after graduating from CU and is now dedicated to giving back to the program where she got her start. John H. and Cynthia H. Schultz Endowed Chair in Surgery
Ruth and Ralph Seligman Endowed Chair in Hematology
After a personal experience with the CU Department of Surgery, Cynthia and John Schultz endowed this chair to support innovative surgical therapies and collaboration among physician-researchers at CU. These funds are also used to pioneer and enhance a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Named in honor of Dr. Paul Seligman’s parents, this chair was funded by Dr. Paul Seligman and Dr. Robert and Nancy Allen and the CU Division of Hematology. This funding specifically supports research into hematologic conditions such as cancer, in order to bring about better understanding of disease and the development of novel therapeutics. 19

This chair preserves Dr. Linda Crnic’s commitment to helping those with Down syndrome and ensures her legacy is carried forward through innovative research and individualized clinical care. These funds allow the institute to expand the number of researchers investigating ways to improve the lives of people with Down syndrome.
Sissel & Findlow Family Chair
Mary and George Sissel’s grandson, Ben, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and immediately sought care at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Once the diagnosis was confirmed, Ben became a patient at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes — a decision he credits with changing his life. This chair provides resources for faculty working on a cure for type 1 diabetes.
Slater Family Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology
The Slaters established this chair to advance scientific discovery in the CU Department of Ophthalmology. A longstanding partner of the department, the Slater family was motivated by the belief that future curative therapies for blinding diseases are within reach.
Charley J. Smyth Chair in Rheumatology Research

Stapp | Harlow Endowed Chair for Cancer Research
Funding for this chair began with William Harlow in 1954, who gave to support hematology and cancer research. Decades later, Margaret Stapp completed the funding for this chair to advance cancer research and care in the CU Division of Medical Oncology after her husband’s battle with cancer.
John M. Stewart Chair for Peptide Research
After 40 years leading the field of peptide chemistry, Dr. Stewart endowed this chair to ensure that future generations of researchers would have the resources to continue forward-thinking research. E. Stewart Taylor, MD, Endowed Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology
The CU School of Medicine and over 100 members of the CU community created this chair in obstetrics and gynecology.
