Transport
Each kitchen is equipped with a kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, fridge and freezer.
Bus Service There is a regular bus service into the city centre during the week. If catching the bus from the city centre, the stop for the University is the Bowerham Primary School. For detailed bus times, please contact reception, where a current timetable is available.
Emergency and security Emergency Reception is manned 24 hours a day. In case of an emergency on campus, call reception on 01524 590800, 01524 384290 or dial 999. Fire Please make yourselves familiar with the locations of fire exits, assembly points and fire fighting appliances. Details of fire procedure can be found in each hall, and on the back of the door to your room. If the fire alarm sounds, regardless of the time of day or night, the building must be evacuated. Keys Please keep your keys with you at all times. If you lose your keys, please inform reception immediately. There is a charge of ÂŁ30 to cover the replacement of lost keys. Maintenance In this pack there is a maintenance form. If there is a defect or problem with your room, please contact reception on 01524 590800.
Taxis If you require a taxi, call 01524 848848, 01524 35666 or 01524 32090. Train Service Lancaster is on the West Coast Main Line which runs from London to Glasgow. Local services are available to Morecambe, Heysham and the Lake District. For details, call the national rail enquiries line on 08457 48 49 50.
Campus facilities
Departures
Postal Services Incoming mail can be collected from reception. The nearest post office is on Bowerham Road.
Delegates are asked to vacate their rooms no later than 10am on the day of departure, and hand their keys into reception (unless alternative departure arrangements have been made). Please be advised you will be invoiced £30.00 in respect of any key which is not returned. Please complete your feedback form, and leave it in your room.
Sports Complex Residential guests are welcome to take advantage of special rates at our sports complex. To arrange an induction for the conditioning room, or to book squash, badminton or tennis courts, call in at the sports complex or phone 01524 526525. Open Monday – Friday: 08.00 – 22.00, Saturday and Sunday: 10.00 – 18.00. Chapel The chapel is open during the hours of daylight for private prayer and reflection. Banks A cash point is located on the outside of the Gateway Building, and there are branches of all major banks in the city centre. Newspapers Newspapers are available from the Spar shop on Bowerham Road. Medical Services If you require the services of a doctor or dentist, reception will give you the appropriate contact details. The nearest chemist is on Bowerham Road. Security All efforts are made to ensure the premises are secure at all times. Please lock your room whenever it is unoccupied. The University cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.
Parking Car Parking Cars not displaying a valid permit or parked in a reserved area of the car park will be issued with a parking ticket. Please contact the Conference Office if you require a permit.
Laundry facilities There are coin operated laundry facilities by the Waddell Hall with three washers & four dryers. There are more laundry facilities on campus, located in the basement of William Thompson Hall, with two washers & two dryers.
