• Bringing Metro Detroiters together to a beacon on Seven Mile Road
Within the hallowed halls comes a legacy of excellence — passed down student to student, year to year, generation to generation.
From near and far, students come to learn, to develop, to be inspired, to have their minds and hearts shaped and molded.
The primary mission of a Jesuit Education is to challenge young men from different cities and different backgrounds to be one thing:
A Man for Others for the greater glory of God.
Founded in 1877 by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits)
• Catholic religious order founded in 1540 by St. Ignatius Loyola
• Considered to be the premier Catholic educators worldwide
• Operate colleges and universities such as Georgetown, Boston College, Marquette, Xavier, and Loyola University (Chicago)
“Our prime educational objective is to form Men for Others for the greater honor and glory of God.”
— Pedro Arrupe, S.J.

Athletics Co-Curriculars
With championship-caliber teams playing in the toughest league in the state, U of D Jesuit is the perfect place for one to showcase their individual talents as part of a team sport. In addition, U of D Jesuit constantly welcomes college coaches to campus who are seeking outstanding student-athletes that can enhance their athletic programs.
Sports Accomplishments
No student should be a 3:00 PM man. After school, our students head in different directions on our campus, attending meetings, practices, debating, building cars and much, much more. Many of our co-curricular activities were originally proposed by students to fuel their interest in a subject. After school, while learning in a different way, you develop the friendships that will end up lasting a lifetime.
We offer over 40 co-curricular activities, many that have won local, state, and national awards in competition.

No one should be a 3:00 PM man.
We want our students to enjoy a complete student experience by getting involved in all aspects of school life.
Men for Others Colleges
Our Challenge
U of D Jesuit’s goal is to take an incoming student and challenge him, open his eyes to the world around him and demand excellence in all things. But most importantly, it is to form him as a Man for Others, willing to help those in our society who are most vulnerable and lend his support. If we simply provide outstanding academics, co-curriculars and athletics with little regard to the molding of the spirit and the heart, then we fail in our primary objective.
A Jesuit Education
To help develop the whole person, our school follows a centuries-old method of instruction rooted in the teachings of St. Ignatius Loyola. Its an educational system that has stood the test of time more than any other – a Jesuit education. The Society of Jesus, known simply as the Jesuits, is a Catholic religious order known for its unrivaled educational excellence. Hallmarks of a Jesuit education are simple to list, but hard to accomplish:
• Open to Growth
• Intellectually Competent
• Religious
• Loving
• Committed to Doing Justice
Religion
U of D Jesuit is a Catholic school, committed to the example set by Jesuit Christ. In addition to Theology classes, our students participate in retreats, school Masses, prayer services and more. We welcome all religions which is why our diverse community of students learn from each other as they discover the similarities and differences in their beliefs.
A Real World Learning Experience
U of D Jesuit’s philosophy and location allow it to be a true melting pot, where students from various backgrounds and ethnicities converge. Jesuit schools are counter cultural, meaning they challenge even those students from similar backgrounds to grow in different ways that make sense for them.
Service to Our Community
To bring the lessons of a Jesuit Education to life, serving our community is an essential part of each student’s time at The High.
At each grade level, a student is expected to complete a specific number of service hours. Seniors spend many Wednesdays assigned to a placement throughout Metro-Detroit where they volunteer by tutoring, serving food in a soup kitchen, boxing food, working at a nursing home and many more.
Students have opportunities to be involved in service projects throughout the year. Whether it is collecting food or clothing, delivering food with Focus:HOPE or a new student-led initiative, the school year is filled with service opportunities.
In the summer, students have the opportunity to take part in extended service trips. Students spend time away from home in communities as close as downtown Detroit or Camden, New Jersey and as distant as the Dominican Republic, Equador, Spain or other Central American destinations.
Year after year, our graduates attend colleges and universities throughout the country and the State of Michigan. The logos shown on this page reflect just a few of the many schools attended to by graduates of The High.
Our College Counseling office, staffed with two full-time advisors, helps and advises our students and their parents as they navigate the college admission process.
In the end, a student’s college selection is based on numerous components, including geography, academic reputation, costs, scholarship opportunities, program offerings and friends, to list just a few. Our college counselors push our students to make decisions that are right for them. 10 0% of students accepted into college!
