OUR GUARANTEE New postgraduate students If you apply by 31 July 2020 we guarantee to offer you a bed space if you are: – An unaccompanied international postgraduate entering into year one, who has firmly accepted the offer of a place at the University of Exeter; – An unaccompanied incoming study abroad or Erasmus student at Exeter for the full academic year starting in September Please note that it is not always possible to allocate one of your preferences. In these circumstances the information you provided on the application form will be used as a guide for the type of accommodation we will offer you. If your course starts at any other time than September you can still contact us as we may be able to offer you accommodation (subject to availability at the time). Accommodation Contract When you apply for accommodation we will send you an offer, subject to availability. If you accept the offer it will become a legally binding agreement and you will be expected to make the payments in full whether you live in the University’s or in alternative accommodation you’ve arranged privately.
All students benefit from a range of additional support services, such as: – 24/7 campus-based security team – experienced welfare support team – roaming night support – repair service – cleaning service – laundry facilities – secure cycle storage – personal contents insurance
SCHEDULED BUILDING WORKS 2020/21 Essential maintenance works are scheduled to take place on a number of blocks at Lafrowda, which is near Spreytonway, and Birks Grange Village during 2020/21. The University will make every effort to ensure that any disruption to students will be kept to a minimum and those in directly affected blocks will receive a rent reduction for the inconvenience caused during this time. On your application form you will be able to indicate your preference to live in an affected block, however, there will be no guarantee that we will, or will not be able to allocate you one of these rooms. We are also investing in new accommodation on our East Park site, which is near to Garden Hill House and may cause some minor disruption as we complete the development. OUR NEW RESIDENCES OPENING IN 2020 We are creating more than 1,500 student bedrooms on our Streatham Campus across three locations: East Park, Moberly (undergraduate only) and Spreytonway, a 131 bedroom residence exclusively for postgraduates.

Our new accommodation provides en-suite and standard rooms (with shared bathrooms) arranged in flats of 5-10 students. Each of the residences will feature a range of multipurpose spaces enabling you to socialise, study and relax. East Park will open in two phases in 2020 and 2021. There will be social spaces available in phase 1 (2020/2021), including a study area. Phase 2 will complete in September 2021, providing further social and study spaces. Residents in 2020/21 may experience some disruption as we complete the remaining blocks, and begin work nearby on Project North Park, a new research and teaching building.
