Key Dates:

Term commences: Monday 6 January – Sunday 12 January Half Term: Monday 17 February – Sunday 23 February Last Week of Term: Monday 31 March – Sunday 6 April

Courses – New for 2014 NEW TENNIS INDUCTIONS / REPORTS Specially designed to help you find your level. New visitors are invited to book a FREE 15 minute tennis induction with a coach who will welcome you and recommend your personal programme. Current players on our programme will also receive a report at the end of each term to advise on the best course for them to move onto.

Tots Tots sessions are designed so a parent or guardian can be on court with their child and work through the activities set up by the coach. The fundamental areas of balance, co-ordination, agility, movement and sending and receiving skills will be focussed on creating a good base for the further development of all sports.

Social TenniS/additional practice sessions

Mini Tennis Our Mini Tennis programme follows the LTA Mini Tennis Awards framework which creates a clear progression for our tots and primary school players aged 4-10 years (visit our website for further information and clarification on levels).

Mini Tennis Red Hitters - A fun session for children of any ability aged 8 and under.

Junior and Teen Tennis The Junior and Teens programme now consists of three progressive levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) which create an environment for players to train and progress depending on their ability.

Junior Touch Tennis - Juniors play over the mini nets where they can hit a lot of balls, compete and gain success very quickly with their friends.

Tennis Houses Every child enrolled onto our courses will now be put into a Tennis House for the term. Coaches will allocate house points to players throughout the term with inter-house competitions and social/ competitive events also taking place.

UniversityofExeterSport

We recognise that some players just want to turn up and play some tennis for fun with their friends regardless of ability. We have therefore created coach-led sessions to help players get some extra court time:

Mini Tennis Club - Full of games and mini-matches our tennis club is a great way to meet new friends. For ages 4-10 years.

Teen’s Matchplay - For those who just want to come to a structured session and play. These sessions should be additional practice sessions for those already booked onto our courses. This gives players the opportunity to practice what their coach is advising whilst enjoying a more social session.

Our coaching courses are designed to ensure that players at every level enjoy tennis and develop all aspects of their game. To help new and returning players get up to speed, we have introduced a series of six week courses focussing on the core skills needed for our full-term programmes. These players tend to develop quickly whilst building confidence, allowing them to progress onto the next level. Our full-term courses allow both coach and pupils to progress as a group throughout the term. Sessions take place in a sociable and friendly environment allowing players to develop their game at a pace that is suited to them. A range of pay and play, coach-led and casual sessions are designed to fit around busy lifestyles, those who may not want to commit for a whole term or players who just want to play social tennis with like-minded people. In place of Adult Afternoons, a range of one-off coaching clinics will also be introduced and advertised throughout the term for players looking for additional tips on particular aspects of their game. Adult coaching courses n Tennis Xpress – An introductory six week course for beginners or those who have not played for a long time using smaller courts and lower bouncing balls.

n Tennis Xpress+ – A six week course to prepare adults thinking of joining our coaching courses or sessions on the full tennis court. This course will help boost confidence and brush up on technique and tactics. n Adult Developers – A block of progressive coaching sessions running throughout the whole term aimed at those comfortable playing on the full court. Adult Pay and Play sessions n Adult Coffee Morning – A two hour structured session which is coach led. The session includes coaching drills, tips, matchplay and coffee afterwards. n Adult Drills – A coach led session where you will hit lots of tennis balls. Ideal for additional practice alongside other coaching programmes or for those who just want a good hit. n Cardio Tennis – An aerobic workout to music which is held on a tennis court. It’s all about the fitness - you don’t need to be any good at tennis! Adult Casual Play (no coach) n Adult Matchplay – Courts are set aside for adults to just turn up and play matches. Players rotate around, so this is a great way to meet like-minded tennis players. n Adult Clubnight – An evening matchplay session, where courts are set aside for those who want to turn up and join in with playing matches.
