Visiting masterclasses and workshops are an integral feature of the course and we regularly host concerts and workshops with leading pop and classical musicians. You’ll also have opportunities to study composition, songwriting, technology, and musicology modules that will support your all-round development as a performer.

Your future

We strongly encourage our students to be enterprising and many graduates go on to work freelance and establish portfolio careers as recording artists and session musicians. “The course offers such a variety of ensembles, all led by musicians who are experts in their field. Students are included in the running of the ensemble which adds another skill to your arsenal. Being in a hotspot for band and orchestral music and, with high-profile connections, the instrumental tuition at Huddersfield is second to none. This led to me being offered and accepting a position as Principal Tuba in the world’s No.1 ranked brass band during my final year. The University can provide you with the tools to not only achieve your potential, but to smash it out of the park.”

Tommy Tynan, Principal Tuba Player, the Cory Band
