Our innovative Partners in Law scheme links you with thirteen legal firms, both from the region and nationally, with international repute for networking, mentoring and training opportunities. Some of the firms currently involved in

the partnership include Pinsent Masons, DLA Piper, Eversheds, Ridley and Hall Solicitors, Ramsdens Solicitors and Eaton Smith. Our tutors have strong professional backgrounds and industry experience. Many are fully qualified solicitors or have worked in senior legal positions within leading organisations. You may also have the opportunity to be part of the Legal Advice Clinic. You’ll work closely with solicitors from local firms, regularly attending court and assisting with real cases, allowing you to apply your practical skills in a real-world environment. The Clinic serves the community of Huddersfield and is based off campus in the town centre with our students providing real advice to real people. Not only does this service offer valuable and practical legal advice, the experience will help you to develop your own practical, reflective and autonomous skills.

The Master of Law and Practice (MLP) is an exciting Master’s degree course that provides a clear route to professional qualification, plus exemption from the vocational stage of training (LPC) for qualification as a solicitor. This should satisfy all your academic requirements and entitles you to proceed directly to a training contract with a legal firm. This route of study means it isn’t necessary to fund a separate LPC course on top of your LLB(Hons) – a massive benefit and saving when setting yourself up for a career in law.

Law LLB (Hons)

The LLB is a well-established qualifying law degree which provides the first stage of academic qualification on the road to becoming a solicitor or barrister whilst giving you the opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills. It helps you to acquire a firm understanding of legal principles and core legal concepts but also allows you to choose from a range of specialised electives, enabling you to tailor your final award to reflect your own aspirations and strengths when competing in the work environment. The course aims to provide a comprehensive foundation in the study of law, with specialist options in Years 2 and 3.
