The Public Partnership Group (PPG)
The PPG is made up of members of the public who are happy to talk about their experiences as patients, service users, or unpaid carers. We welcome new people into the PPG to share their experiences.
As a PPG member you will be offered opportunities to get involved in student education and research. There is no minimum time commitment, meaning that this can be as little or often as you like. Support is provided by a team of experienced staff who will ensure your involvement is rewarding.
Informing teaching and learning
People who have received healthcare, social care and other public services are in the best position to comment on their needs and how they would like to be treated. They can get involved in a wide range of activity, from helping us to design courses and select new students, through to sharing their experiences during teaching and offering their opinions on student performance. We welcome people from a variety of backgrounds, including those caring for a family member, partner or friend.
“The students were very welcoming and actively engaged with my lived experiences, which made me feel listened to and respected”
Informing research
“It was really useful to hear about the positive and negative aspects of their care and what they would want from us as nurses”
It is important to involve people with lived experiences in our research activities. We value public opinion when setting research priorities, and welcome service users and carers as partners in designing research and steering the direction of research projects.
