Established by Royal Charter in 1836, the University of London is one of the oldest, largest and most diverse universities in the UK. We were the first university to welcome students of all beliefs and faiths, to offer women equal access to higher education, and to pioneer transnational and flexible learning. This commitment to providing access and connecting worlds has shaped our history and, more than 180 years later, we are proud to welcome students from across the world to our community. Today, our global classroom spans seven continents, and our academics, students and alumni continue to innovate and inspire the world over. With your support, we can continue to break down barriers to education, ensuring our students achieve academic success regardless of their social or financial background.

The University’s mission is as relevant today as it was in 1836 and is reflected in our core aims: Widen global access to a world class education; Deliver academic excellence through research and teaching; Create a collaborative programme of engagement initiatives for public benefit.

“ Our commitment to widening access to higher education encourages social mobility and equips our students with the critical thinking and sense of responsibility required to become global citizens and society’s future experts and world leaders. As a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Circle, you are directly helping the University to enable access to education and deliver academic excellence.” Professor Wendy Thomson CBE Vice-Chancellor

The Vice-Chancellor’s Circle The Vice-Chancellor’s Circle is an exclusive community of philanthropists who make gifts of over £1,000 to the University. Donations from Vice-Chancellor’s Circle members make an enormous impact on the University and our communities: from supporting public engagement initiatives which open up humanities research to a wider audience; to providing scholarship support to students who otherwise would be unable to access higher education; to helping us to create world-class facilities for our students and academics. However you choose to direct your gift, it will play a vital role in supporting our mission. To make a donation, please visit london.ac.uk/vice-chancellors-circle

In recognition of their generosity, Vice-Chancellor’s Circle level donors receive the following: A personal welcome letter from the Vice-Chancellor and an accompanying Vice-Chancellor’s Circle badge; An invitation to an exclusive annual event with the Vice-Chancellor; Further invitations to special University events; Recognition in the University’s annual donor report as one of our most generous and significant supporters.

Overseas Giving The University of London is registered with a number of international foundations with taxexempt status in their respective countries. This means alumni and friends of the University living in these countries are able to benefit from tax deductions on their charitable donations.
