Credit
If you have previously completed postgraduate studies (either single courses or a full degree program), it may count as credit towards your University of Newcastle postgraduate program. You will need to prepare the required supporting documentation before starting the credit application process. Consider the age of your prior qualifications. Apply early! It can take up to three weeks for a full assessment of your credit application. To guarantee that you receive an outcome prior to the census date of your first term of study, please ensure that you submit your credit application at least three weeks before the start of term.

Recognition of prior learning
For some degrees, if you have additional qualifications or experience above what is required for admission, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL). This means you can complete your degree faster with fewer courses to undertake. Where relevant, different pathways are outlined on each degree page on our website.
International applicants
If you are not an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, or the holder of an Australian Permanent Residency visa, you are able to apply directly through our International Office or via an education agent depending on your home country.
