Keeping safe on campus
Whilst Salford is a safe place to live and study, there can be times – as there are in all big cities – when you may feel unsafe. We’ve made it a little easier for you to take the utmost precautions to stay safe around campus and online.

We provide a friendly security service that’s available for advice and assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

the SafeZone app
SafeZone is a free app to give you extra peace of mind and support whilst at university.
It enables you to access emergency or urgent assistance should you need it, request first aid and report an emergency incident or concern, day or night. Download the app once you’ve registered and have your University of Salford email address.

Step 1: Complete registration
Complete registration as soon as you are invited to so that you’re able to access our IT systems, virtual learning environment and your university email account. You’ll need these for your induction activities. Find out how to register at salford.ac.uk/welcome/ registration
Step 3: Secure accommodation
Secure your accommodation as early as possible. If you haven’t yet arranged somewhere to live take a look at salford.ac.uk/accommodation for the latest updates.
Step 2: Finalise funding
Make sure that your funding is in place and finalised. It’s important that you have confirmation from Student Finance, your sponsor, or have set up a payment plan if you’re self-funding your studies. Find out more at salford.ac.uk/ askus/topics/money/tuition-fees
Step 4: Get to know our systems
Watch our video guides at salford.ac.uk/skills/it-skills/ using-salford-systems before you start. They’ll help you get your head around the essential online systems you’ll be using for your studies at Salford.
Step 5: Know who to contact
Familiarise yourself with the different teams who are here to support you during your time at Salford; from wellbeing support to careers advice and everything in between at salford.ac.uk/ welcome/nice-to-meet-you
Step 7: Plan your journey
Plan your journey to campus in advance so that you’re prepared for any scheduled teaching for your course. You’ll receive your course timetable before you start and your personal timetable during your induction activities. Plan your route at tfgm.com/plan-a-journey
Step 9: Enjoy life as a Salford student
