Torero ID card: If your student uploaded a headshot over the summer, they will receive their Torero ID card when they move into their residence hall. Commuters and students who did not upload a photo may get their Torero ID card at Campus Card Services.

The One Stop Student Center has representatives from Student Accounts, the Office of Financial Aid and the Registrar available to answer your questions.

If your student ordered textbooks online, the order will be available for pickup during normal business hours. An email confirmation of the order is necessary for pickup.

PARKING SERVICES In front of Hahn University Center (UC) Saturday, noon – 4 p.m.

Visit the Parking Services table for assistance with parking permits and questions about parking. Parking permits are available for purchase online at sandiego.edu/parking.

MAIL CENTER MOVE-IN PICKUP Mail Center at Maher Annex Saturday, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sunday, 8 a.m. – noon Monday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Students living on campus may visit the Mail Center Move-In Pickup location to pick up any packages sent to their university address prior to arrival.

Visit the on-campus U.S. Bank branch to open an account or ask your banking questions. ATMs are located at the Hahn University Center and the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Lunch is available for purchase on campus. New students eat for free at Pavilion Dining in the Student Life Pavilion (SLP) with their wristband. For additional options, visit Parent and Family Headquarters for recommendations.

All students, family members and guests are invited to attend this official kickoff to Parent and Family Orientation and be welcomed by USD’s president, James T. Harris III, DEd. The program will start promptly at 4 p.m. Please note that parents and students will be asked to sit separately to facilitate the logistics of the evening.

PARENT AND FAMILY RESOURCE FAIR Enjoy a coffee and light breakfast snacks with fellow Torero parents and families. USD departments and administrators will host tables to introduce themselves, share helpful information and to help you get connected with resources. All persons attending must have a ticket. MASS OF WELCOME Jenny Craig Pavilion (JCP) A very special Mass has been prepared to welcome all new students and their families into the USD community. All denominations are welcome and encouraged to attend. At the conclusion of the Mass, families will have the opportunity to take part in the USD tradition of blessing their students as they begin their college experience.

Take a break from your busy day with a delicious boxed lunch. Lunch will feature sandwiches, chips and fruit with vegetarian and gluten-free options upon request. Drinks will be provided as well. All persons attending lunch must have a ticket. This meal does not include your new USD student. 2 – 4:30 p.m.

PARENT AND FAMILY INFORMATIONAL SESSIONS Jenny Craig Pavilion (JCP) You have helped your student get to this point. Now, what comes next? Hear directly from administrators, faculty members and fellow parents in a selection of informational sessions meant to help you learn how to best support your student during his/her time at USD and beyond. There will be four 30-minute presentations on the following topics. The sessions will be presented at 2, 2:30, 3:15 and 3:45 p.m. All session topics are concurrently offered in Spanish as well. 2 p.m.

FROM CARETAKER TO COACH This session will provide you with insights into what your student will experience and how he/she might change over the next year. You will receive tips for transitioning from your student’s caretaker to coach, including strategies for communication and important discussion topics. First-time parents of college students might find this particularly helpful! 2:30 p.m.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER PRESENTS: PARENTS AS PARTNERS It is never too early to start thinking about your student’s future career. Parents play a critical role in their student’s college experience and decisions for the future. Join the Career Development Center team to learn about USD’s comprehensive career plan and how you can support your student’s career development throughout his/her time at USD.

NAVIGATING USD ACADEMICS AND THE FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE USD College of Arts and Sciences faculty members and administrators will discuss USD’s core curriculum, selecting classes, where to find academic support and ways in which your student can make the most of his/her USD education. 3:45 p.m.

INTERNATIONAL STUDY ABROAD Why not study abroad while at USD? During the past six years, USD has ranked within the top 10 schools in the nation for undergraduate student-abroad participation and prides itself on cultivating globally minded citizens. Students have the opportunity to study in more than 35 different countries. Learn about the process of studying abroad and opportunities available for your student. 5 – 6 p.m.

TORERO TIME CAPSULE CEREMONY Paseo de Colachis Be part of a wonderful new USD family tradition! We are asking students to write a letter to themselves envisioning their future and where they want to be in five years. What are some experiences they wish to have or goals they would like to accomplish in that time? They will deposit their letters with us during this special ceremony. We will keep their letter safe until Summer 2024 when we will mail them to the address they provided. This ceremony also serves as the farewell event for students and their families. After this event, Parent and Family Orientation ends and students will continue with their orientation program until the first day of classes on Wednesday. GET INVOLVED. Ticket pricing is as follows: Adult Ticket — 21 years and older: $60 Youth Ticket — 20 years and younger: $30 Prepurchased tickets and weekend materials may be picked up at the following locations: Families of First-Year Residential Students: Pick up your prepurchased tickets and materials at the Parent and Family Check-In area that corresponds to your student’s residence hall on Saturday, Aug. 31, between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Families of First-Year Commuter Students: Pick up your prepurchased tickets and materials at the Commuter Student Check-In area at the Hahn University Center, Room 119 (The Commuter Commons Lounge) on Saturday, Aug. 31 between 1 and 3 p.m. Families of Transfer Residential Students: Pick up your prepurchased tickets and materials at the Parent and Family Check-In area that corresponds to your student’s residence hall on Saturday, Aug. 31, between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Families of Transfer Commuter Students: Pick up your prepurchased tickets and materials at Parent and Hospitality Headquarters per the hours of operations and locations shared above.
