Welcome to USD’s Transfer Fall Orientation. This program is especially designed for you, a transfer student. It contains all the information you need to navigate each day of Transfer Fall Orientation. Optional sessions will be identified by an asterisk (*). All other sessions are mandatory.
Find your place. Learn about how you can get involved in the Torero community and connect with other new transfers and continuing students.
Learn the ropes. Receive essential information about requirements, resources and campus departments to ensure you have a great start at USD.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 27 – RESIDENT STUDENTS ONLY Welcome to your new home! Today is Move-In Day for resident transfer students (students who will be living on campus). All events today are for resident students and their families only. Please refer to the Transfer Student Arrival Guide you received from Residential Life for more detailed information about move-in for your assigned residential area. 9 a.m. – noon

GET SETTLED AND EXPLORE CAMPUS Campus Card Services Hahn University Center (UC), Room 127 Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Torero ID card: If you uploaded a photo over the summer, you will receive your Torero ID card when you move into your residence hall. Commuters and students who did not upload a photo may get their Torero ID card at Campus Card Services.

Visit the USD Torero Store to buy your books, supplies, technology and USD apparel. If you ordered your textbooks online, your order will be available for pickup during normal business hours. You must show your email confirmation of the order for pickup.

Mail Center at Maher Annex Saturday, 8 a.m. – noon
If you are living on campus, visit the Mail Center to pick up any packages sent to your university address prior to your arrival. After noon on Saturday, you will be able to pick up between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Mail Center.

As a transfer student myself, I speak from a place of experience when I say that Transfer Fall Orientation is a major aid in both your academic and social transformation into being a Torero. With this in mind, I strongly encourage you to make the most of this weekend and welcome every opportunity that comes your way. Mass of Welcome* Jenny Craig Pavilion (JCP) A very special Mass has been prepared to welcome all new students and their families into the USD community. All denominations are welcome and encouraged to attend. At the conclusion of Mass, families will have the opportunity to take part in the USD tradition of blessing their students as they begin their college experience. Mass is the final Transfer Fall Orientation parent and family event. It’s time to say your goodbyes!

Mother Rosalie Hill Reading Room: Located on the main floor of Copley Library, this is a silent study room open to students and the campus community during library hours.

Missions Café: Located in The Valley by the Mission Crossroads office, this is a great place to grab a meal or snack.

United Front Multicultural Center: This center engages the USD community in exploring and affirming the unique identity of each person and serves as an educational resource for students, faculty and staff. It’s located in the SLP.
TU MERC
Tu Mercado: A full-service grocery store, deli and coffee bar located on the second floor of the Student Life Pavilion.

Student Leadership, Involvement and Changemaking: This office oversees all student clubs and organizations and is located in the SLP.
Jenny Craig Pavilion: Home to several USD athletic teams, including men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball. It is also used for large special events, New Student Convocation and Commencement.
PSAFE
Public Safety: The Department of Public Safety is located on the south side of the Hughes Administration Center and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to help with emergency situations.
Missions A and B, San Buenaventura, SAPs, Valley Field, Mission Crossroads, Missions Café and Fitness Center: Collectively, these residence buildings, amenities and offices located on the east side of campus between the Student Life Pavilion and the Jenny Craig Pavilion are known as The Valley.
