YOU’VE BEEN ACCEPTED

Welcome TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO!

Congratulations on your academic achievements. We know your demonstrated hard work and outstanding personal character will open exciting new opportunities for you as an important member of our Torero community.

Our founders — the Most Reverend Charles Francis Buddy, the first Bishop of San Diego, and Mother Rosalie Hill of the Religious of the Sacred Heart — envisioned a university on the hill as a beacon of light for the Catholic intellectual tradition. Through beauty, goodness and truth, our charism shines for the world to see, as our collective actions reflect the dignity of the individual and the imperative to care for our world and one another.

We invite you to explore and discover all we have to offer to challenge your mind, heart, and spirit as we join you on your journey to shine even brighter! We are confident that you will make a lasting contribution to the University of San Diego and to the world.

We were the first on the West Coast and remain one of only 41 institutions in the world designated as a Changemaker Campus. Our Catholic identity and Changemaker distinction reflect a deep conviction to help students apply their knowledge, skills, and talents to confront humanity’s urgent challenges. Your total student experience, both inside and outside of the classroom, will equip you with enduring insights and capabilities that provide a competitive advantage after graduation, where a robust alumni network will support you throughout your career.

Our Torero community looks forward to greeting you upon your arrival in August. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at (619) 260-4506.

Academic Excellence and Personalized Learning

USD is more than just a pretty place. Ranked among the top 100 universities in the country, USD has been setting the standard for a contemporary Catholic university for more than 70 years. The liberal arts teach students how to learn, how to think and how to communicate across disciplines, which are exactly the skills employers tell us they need. From the moment you arrive on campus, you will be surrounded by a network of academic and social support. With classes averaging just 21 students, you will get to know our expert faculty in the classroom, but you’ll connect with them during regular office hours, partner with them on research projects, or meet in one-on-one advising sessions.

Inspiring Surroundings

Our students get to live and learn on one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. You’ll get to view the ocean walking to class, enjoy amazing sunsets as you head to dinner, and in between enjoy the stunning architecture of our buildings. The city of San Diego provides an upbeat and lively environment to test your entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and our Toreros engage deeply with our city and experience the warmth and diversity of the community.

Global Perspective

With Toreros hailing from more than 58 countries, USD welcomes all to campus. Our location at the edge of an international gateway uniquely positions us to give students a broader view of the world - both from campus and beyond. USD has been ranked among the top schools in the nation for the past five years for the percentage of undergraduates participating in a study abroad program. Students can travel abroad to over 35 countries to complete their coursework or to engage in service learning and community building programs. USD has been a designated Changemaker campus because it has shown a full commitment to provide opportunities for all students to engage in social change and social innovation both inside and outside the classroom. We encourage our community to commit themselves to addressing social issues that matter to them and exploring new ideas that will have a positive social impact.
