Dear USD Alumni, Family, and Friends, What a time to be a Torero! We’re excited to present this annual report, a look back over the past year and acknowledgment of the outstanding volunteers who power the USD Alumni Association. USD alumni play an important role in the life of the USD community, and we invite you to get involved! Transition has been a theme this year as Heather Dooley ’02 (BA), ’05 (MEd) completed a successful tenure as president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. She led the Alumni Board for two years and served for eight years, during which time she chaired the USD Wine Classic, attended countless events, and throughout last year, served as an alumni representative for USD’s Strategic Planning effort, Envisioning 2024. We are grateful for her tremendous commitment to USD! Looking ahead, there are many opportunities for our 68,000 alumni to get involved, on campus and off: • Take part in Homecoming and Family Weekend, an excellent way to
reinvigorate your Torero spirit! • Join us at a regional event hosted by one of 22 Torero Clubs across the
country. These networking, social, educational, and service events are open to all USD alumni, parents and friends. • Take part in #HireUSD. Consider hiring your fellow alumni and providing
opportunities for current USD students. • Mark your calendars for the USD Wine Classic, set for July 15, 2018, as we
celebrate this signature event’s 10th anniversary! We invite you to learn more about the Alumni Association through these pages and on our website — alumni.sandiego.edu. And stop by the Degheri Alumni Center when you visit Alcalá Park. We look forward to seeing you in your Torero Blue! In Torero Spirit,
Gerry Rodrigues ’97 (BBA) Incoming President of USD Alumni Association

Alumni Philanthropy
This student-driven campaign focuses on creating a culture of giving and educating students about philanthropy at USD. Student Alumni Association, Senior Class Legacy and the GIFT committee collaborate on the Thank a GIFTer/Be A GIFTer week in February.
Torero Regional Rally A little friendly competition never hurt, and our Torero Regional Rally continues to help motivate USD alumni nationwide to become active donors. Toreros across the country are encouraged to make at least one gift over the course of the year to count toward their region’s overall participation percentage, all in the name of boosting USD’s national ranking and providing scholarships to students in need. This year, Chicago and Kansas City achieved the highest participation rates, while the Reno/Tahoe region achieved the most improved participation rate of all regions. Three current students who associate with each of these three regions will receive a $2,000 Alumni Endowed scholarship toward their 2017-2018 academic year. 17.65%

Torero Takeover One city … 17 events … one day … The sum of it all made for a successful premier of the Torero Takeover, a San Diego alumni event that has the potential to become a signature Alumni Association event for years to come. All USD alumni that reside throughout San Diego County were invited to participate in 17 social, educational and physical activities all taking place on May 6th, 2017, including events in conjunction with alumni-owned businesses and alumni-run organizations. The mission was simple: To celebrate the USD community while simultaneously supporting alumni-owned businesses and alumni-run organizations, and to build alumni participation in Leading Change: The Campaign for USD.
