WHAT TO EXPECT Exceptional Community: At STAR we pride ourselves on finding not only the most talented and creative instructors but the most talented and creative students. We believe this combination will provide you with a learning environment unlike any you have ever experienced. Artistic Growth: At STAR you will have the opportunity to work not only with more traditional techniques such as improving your ability to render form with value, or capture accurate proportions, but with more experimental and intuitive techniques geared towards getting you to think outside the box. A Head Start on College: Besides the incredible opportunity to earn three elective college credits you will get to experience a real college arts curriculum at a real college campus in Center City Philadelphia and meet with real college admissions counselors (who will provide invaluable insights into how to make your admissions portfolio as amazing as possible). Now that’s a head start!

Dynamic Environment: Philadelphia is a culturally diverse and dynamic city and the University of the Arts has been turning out great artists for the last 130 years. We are located near world-class museums and amazing galleries and institutions (not to mention historical sites). At STAR you’ll be making art, thinking about art and studying the work of great artists in person. How’s that for a classroom?

YOUR SCHEDULE What will your schedule look like during a typical week at STAR? You’ll be in class Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. You will take STAR courses on MWF and on TTH you will choose electives to take alongside our Art, Media + Design students. Weekday evenings offer open studios and time for connecting with friends. Saturdays are for field trips to museums or to meet with admissions counselors. Sundays are for a quick respite or non-academic field trips (the beach, NYC, amusement park). It’s four intense weeks that culminate in an exhibition and all-faculty critique.
