FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET
Why UVM
Nearly 1,700 Ph.D. and master’s degree candidates from throughout the U.S. and around the world pursue graduate studies at the University of Vermont each year.
Some top reasons they give for choosing UVM:
REPUTATION The widely-recognized exp ertise of UVM faculty and the exceptional quality of our facilities contribute to UVM’s standing as a top research university in the U.S.
EXPERIENCE LEADING TO JOBS Our programs emphasize experience—in nationally-funded labs; with industry giants as well as innovative start-ups; at agencies, schools, and clinics nearby and as far away as Morocco. Immersive experiences like these prepare our students for success and lead to job offers.
INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES We prepare professionals to lead advancement where expertise intersects, like business and sustainability, engineering and medicine. Progress takes off where diverse perspectives and skills join up.
FACULTY ACTIVE IN THEIR FIELDS UVM faculty work with businesses and agencies on important advancements; our graduate students benefit from these partnerships, too. Many UVM faculty also set professional standards in their fields; one reason UVM students consistently report top pass rates on licensing exams.
OUR INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY Even self-directed graduate students value community. UVM’s is known for being welcoming, diverse, and inclusive. Student well-being and success go hand-inhand and are actively supported by academic, wellness, counseling, and other services. The cohort approach in many programs also strengthens our community, including UVM’s professional network.
