George Peabody Society

Named in memory of the father of modern philanthropy whose education fund planted the seeds for University School of Nashville, the George Peabody Society recognizes our most loyal donors. These families — which include trustees, parents, alumni, grandparents, parents of alumni, faculty, and friends of USN — have faithfully invested in the school every year for at least a quarter century with gifts of all sizes. Their commitment to USN inspires us all.

The George Peabody Society has nearly quadrupled in the past seven years from 19 to 84 donors. Eleven members are new this year. The longest consecutive giving streak is 36 years, a milestone achieved by Weaver Barksdale, Samuel Dillard ’56, and Allis Dale and John Gillmor. We’re pleased to share alumni are 36% of the Society.
