TREADRIGHT FOUNDATION

Founded in 2008 by Uniworld’s parent company, The Travel Corporation, The TreadRight Foundation encourages sustainable tourism and aims to #MakeTravelMatter. They’ve completed dozens of projects that have benefited the environment as well as local culture and heritage.

Leading environmentalist and explorer Céline Cousteau proudly serves as TreadRight Ambassador. Céline has traveled the world while working to preserve marine life as well as indigenous tribes in the Amazon. Visit TreadRight.org to learn more.

SINGLE-USE PLASTICS ELIMINATION INITIATIVE

We’re setting our sights on a plastic-free future. Under the guidance of The Travel Corporation, we will ban more than 60 types of single-use plastics—including straws, water bottles and plastic bags—across all operations by 2022.

So far, we’ve reduced plastic waste by 60,349 pounds, decreased chemical waste by 80% on our ships over the last two years, eliminated most plastic straws, water bottles and all related items from all ships and offices and worked with suppliers to avoid plastic wrapping on goods.

IRAQ AL-AMIR WOMEN’S COOPERATIVE

Founded in 1993, the Iraq Al-Amir Women’s Cooperative aims to make local women financially independent, raise their standard of living by increasing their income and preserve local heritage. By travelling on our Amman & Petra extension, in partnership with The TreadRight Foundation, you’ll support the Jordanian women of this cooperative.
