S.S. BEATRICE ELATES AND ASTOUNDS. The designers from Red Carnation Hotels worked their creative magic on River Beatrice, transforming her into the dazzling S.S. Beatrice for 2018. This jewel of a ship graces the waters of the DANUBE RIVER, boasting yacht-like finishes and splashes of nautical hues throughout, a stunning lobby featuring elegant mirrors, marble floors, a white Murano chandelier with blue shades and a grand staircase made of nickel and black iron.
The design inspiration began with 14th-century blue and white Chinese export porcelain and the Dutch derivation known as Delftware, merging ancient tradition with the modernity of blonde wood and polished nickel accents—resulting in an interior that is luxurious yet timeless. Her lounge features sofas and chairs with handmade upholstery by esteemed design houses, a parquet floor and innovative new touches like solar shades. S.S. Beatrice creates enhanced dining and culinary experiences by offering four unique venues, all inspired by famous Austrian composers.
Artwork throughout this ship includes pieces by Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder and Pino Signoretto. From stem to stern, she’s more magnificent than ever.

SHE EXUDES THE SOPHISTICATION AND RESPLENDENCE OF ROYALTY. This splendidly elegant ship cruises along the DANUBE RIVER boasting ultra-luxurious accommodations fit for Empress Maria Theresa herself. As a tribute to the only female ruler in the House of Habsburg, a 10-foot-tall, specially commissioned portrait of S.S. MARIA THERESA’S namesake hangs in the two-story foyer. She was voted “Best New River Ship” by Cruise Critic in her maiden season, and for good reason.
Thoughtful personal touches abound onboard, including décor inspired by the time period in which Maria Theresa reigned. Her interiors exhibit colorful silk-clad walls, a Murano glass chandelier located in the lobby, over-the-top window treatments, eye-catching patterns in every room, a collection of hand-painted coronets and a mosaic-tiled enclosed swimming pool—just to name a few. Her one-of-akind murals adorn the walls of hotels, spas, public spaces and our personal favorite—several of our ships. Step into the ship’s Restaurant de Versailles for a look at her mural, which takes us back to the grand gardens of French châteaux in the 1700s. Jane du Rand lives by the motto that “everything worth doing is worth doing well” and S.S. Antoinette embodies exactly that.

S.S. JOIE DE VIVRE effortlessly celebrates all things French, bringing “Paris into color”—as Stanley Tollman, founder of The Travel Corporation, affectionately noted in his original design brief. Toni Tollman, the creative visionary behind Red Carnation Hotels and Uniworld, along with the rest of our design team, drew inspiration from the elegance of Paris from the 1930s to the 1950s, weaving in playful accents reminiscent of her favorite French designers.
This fantastically French Super Ship is truly the embodiment of the “joy of living” as she cruises along the SEINE RIVER S.S. Joie de Vivre’s attention to detail is unmatched, with fabrics and upholstery from the Tollman’s historical archives, as well as some of the most esteemed design houses in Europe. Throughout the ship, there’s a number of original linen posters dating between the 1860s and 1940s, and Le Salon Toulouse showcases 64 pictures depicting Paris in 1861 in a series known as “Paris dans sa Splendeur.” Additional artwork throughout the ship includes works by Georges Goursat, a famed cartoonist from the early 1900s and one of Toni Tollman’s favorites.

A SHIP THAT PERSONIFIES THE BRILLIANCE OF BORDEAUX. After undergoing an extensive stem-to-stern transformation, River Royale reemerged along the DORDOGNE AND GARONNE
RIVERS as S.S. BON VOYAGE for the 2019 sailing season. This brand-new ship was inspired by the region’s historic surroundings and the incredible wine and gastronomy that Southwest France is known for—complete with a design scheme that showcases just that, as well as several enhanced culinary experiences onboard.
As a nod to France’s culinary prowess, S.S. Bon Voyage introduced two new dining venues, La Brasserie and Le Café du Soleil (known as La Belle Étoile at night). Nestled discreetly at the ship’s bow, La Brasserie pays homage to Paris’ renowned Bouillon Pigalle restaurant, with its charming blue and white décor, and serves classic French fare. Le Café du Soleil flanks the newly installed infinity pool, offering up poolside service and openair cooking demonstrations from specialist chefs. Her stunning lobby reveals polished wood with subtle brass detailing that complements the handcrafted balustrade. Le Salon Champagne boasts specially commissioned sofas and jewel-colored stripes that echo the ones in Yves Saint Laurent’s very own home. It’s a ship so stunning, you may never want to leave.

VALLEY. In 1497, Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama set out with a fleet of warships on his first voyage to India. His ship’s name? São Gabriel. And much like his lead vessel, this new ship on the DOURO RIVER was built for those culturally curious enough to explore new horizons. The S.S. SÃO GABRIEL will set sail with the same fervor that da Gama’s ship did on its quest to find an ocean route between Europe and Asia.
The newest ship on the Douro will debut with more space, more suites and a higher crew-to-guest ratio than her predecessor, Queen Isabel. With the addition of butler service onboard and two dining venues—a restaurant and an alfresco option on the top deck— Portugal’s first Super Ship will never cease to amaze you.
