PAUL FARRELL Paul Farrell is a designer and printmaker based in Bristol. His bold, colourful style is inspired by nature and an interest in graphic arts. Before concentrating on a solo career, Paul had worked as a graphic designer in London for 20 years. He now divides his time between getting hands-on printmaking and designing new work at his studio. His interest is in visually communicating an object clearly and simply, using silhouette, colour and shape. He’s been busy working on new design collections involving precious stones and butterflies. We have a wide selection of Paul’s prints and other screenprinted products including tea towels, cushions and cards which are available from our Unlimited shop and website.

KITTY McCALL

Kitty was born in Dublin, grew up in Nigeria and England, and then studied textile design at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. Having worked in London for 8 years, she now lives and works in Leighton Buzzard as a print designer, dividing her time between commissions for clients and running her own label. Inspired by old patterns and fabrics, fashion, cubism and colour combinations, Kitty McCall is all about embracing print and pattern to create original pieces with a contemporary twist. Her aspiration is to create products that evoke a feeling of joy and beauty in your home. We’re huge fans of Kitty’s work at Unlimited and are pleased to stock her fantastic Astractica range of prints and cushions, and her very striking and popular Papillon print series. A range of 100% cotton fabric designs by Kitty are also available to order from us by the metre. They will be online shortly, and sample swatches will be available to see in the Brighton shop. BOX 2

Box 2 is a collaborative art project by Mike Jolley and Penny Biswell, born out of their joint obsession for collecting and displaying old objects, and their fascination with the world of ‘Wunderkammer’. Their aim is to curate and create unique collections of unusual old objects, and present them to their audience in a surprising and contemporary way. Whether conceptual or purely aesthetic you are forced to think about the objects in a new way – there is a beauty and quality brought to the most mundane through using repetition and order. Each piece by Box 2 is a unique, one- off composition. Please do visit or contact us to find out which pieces are available at the Unlimited shop.

CHARLOTTE FARMER

Charlotte graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2006 with an MA in Communication Design, and has been working freelance ever since – drawing, writing and designing for a wide variety of clients. Her work is a combination of low tech printing methods and small intensive detail contrasted with ‘mistakes’, imperfections and a bit of gestural mark making! Her vivid and contemporary use of colour, such as pastels, metallics and fluorescents, makes each piece deliciously eye-catching. We love the playfulness of her work and are very excited to have a number of her screenprints here at Unlimited, both on our website and in our Brighton shop.

ARTHOUSE MEATH

ARTHOUSE Meath is a social enterprise creating artworks and products with images created by adults living with severe epilepsy and learning difficulties. Their main aim is to show what can be achieved – offering life-changing purpose to individuals, especially those who have been told they can’t or have been made to feel redundant in the past. The majority of ARTHOUSE Meath artists experience severe epilepsy – to help reduce epileptic seizures, it is important that the brain is occupied, enthused and interested – this creative stimulation is provided in a caring, sheltered environment in which the artists also develop social and technical skills, work ethics and team participation. ARTHOUSE Meath has a huge sense of team pride – artists, staff and volunteers are all involved at every level and all achievements are celebrated. We are very proud to be supporting their venture and stocking their beautifully produced range of products at Unlimited – including bone chinaware, gift wrap, hand screenprinted books and textiles.

GALVIN BROTHERS We are very happy be able to showcase the work of Galvin Brothers – Patrick (one half of Unlimited) having worked with Matthew Galvin for a number of years whilst they were both designers at Why Not Associates in London. Galvin Brothers design and make contemporary handcrafted furniture from their workshops in Beverley, East Yorkshire. The business was formed as a partnership between Matthew Galvin (designer) and Andrew Galvin (joiner) in March 2012 building on their Father’s 61 years of joinery and cabinet making experience. Their designs celebrate the uniquely wonderful properties of English Oak and other solid woods, placing traditional joinery techniques at the centre of contemporary forms — functional objects with a twist. Galvin Brothers furniture is designed and built to last; honest-to-goodness and evenly priced. At Unlimited, we have their (Perfectly) Imperfect Stool – so-called because it incorporates an odd leg, and their Pippy Oak School Bench which is a versatile and functional celebration of the timber, showing off all of the characteristic clusters of pips and knots that make each bench unique.

STEVEN WILSON

Top (left) Hot Dog

Steven is an illustrator who lives and works in Brighton. Originally from North London, Steven fell in love with Brighton whilst studying on the renowned Illustration course there. He can often be found foraging through the local flea markets for obscure books and paraphernalia to use as inspiration for his varied and experimental work. He has a particular passion for working on album covers as he enjoys their permanent nature. “I like the idea that with an album sleeve the artwork is forever associated with that album and so you are creating a little piece of history.” Clients include The New Yorker, Warner music, Universal music, Nike, The New York Times, Selfridges, MTV, Wallpaper magazine and Virgin.
