MATC TV/Video Production Students “Take Over” Milwaukee PBS 36.1 on May 8
Each year, MATC Television and Video Production students “take over” Milwaukee PBS 36.1 for a day. On May 8 starting at 10am, students will begin broadcasting more than 14 hours of original student-produced content. There will be a mix of recorded and live content throughout the day. Shows this year include Milwaukee’s Most Haunted, Brewaukee, Bee Kind and Honorbound, just to name a few.
Students have assumed professional roles for this project, such as general manager, promotions, writer, producer, videographer, editor and other roles found in the media industry. The student team works together to produce new content, schedule it for air and organize four hours of live studio broadcasting.
The Television and Video Production program is just one example of the critical hands-on aspect of what MATC students learn. Many programs allow for professional experience that makes a big difference when starting a career. Other hands-on educational programs include culinary arts, early childhood education, dental hygiene and automotive technology. Visit matc.edu to learn about all of the pathways to cost-effective education.
