They run on Tuesday at 10.30am and Friday at 2pm – excluding 9 September – until the end of November; and on Saturday at 10.30am and Sunday at 11.15am until 11 September. No charge is made and booking is not necessary – visitors can turn up and the guide will be waiting near The Abbey’s porch. Larger groups should book a date and time with the parish office – again no charge, but any donation to The Abbey greatly appreciated.

• Friends of Sherborne Abbey

outing: The outing to Salisbury is on Tuesday, 6 September. The coach will arrive in Salisbury late morning, giving visitors time to wander/shop/have lunch, with the cathedral tour at 2.30pm followed by afternoon tea in the refectory. The party will attend Evensong at 5.30pm. The cost is £27, including coach travel, the tour and afternoon tea. Places should be booked by 18 August – for details/ booking form, email Joanna. • The Reverend Lesley

McCreadie is retiring in August. Her last service at Sherborne Abbey is on Sunday, 21 August, at 9.30am. It is hoped as many people as possible can go along to the service and afterwards on for coffee to wish Lesley a long and happy retirement. • Taize services: Half an hour of prayer, meditation and music on the second Sunday of the month at 6.30pm, Cheap Street Church, Sherborne. Everyone welcome. Next service is on Sunday, 11 September. This informal, ecumenical service is based on the Taize Community’s worship founded by Br Roger in the 1940s in Burgundy, France. Taize music has become part of the worshipping life of churches worldwide. • Julian Group: Next meeting is at St John’s Almshouse Chapel, Sherborne, on Wednesday, 14 September, 4-4.30pm. Everyone welcome – the meetings are ecumenical. • Organ recitals at Sherborne Abbey on Mondays at 1.30pm resume on 12 September. • Remembering the Fallen at Sherborne Abbey on Friday, 19 August. • Mothers’ Union meeting at the Griffiths Room, Digby Memorial Church Hall, Sherborne Abbey, on Friday, 23 September, at 10am for 10.30am start. • Sherborne Quakers meet Sundays 10.30am in the Griffiths Room, Digby Memorial Church Hall.
