Tinney’s Youth Club present a week of activities
Tinney’s Youth Club based at the Sherborne Area Youth & Community Centre in Tinneys Lane, Sherborne are again running a whole week of activities for the young people from the Sherborne area. Restarted in 2017 the Focus on Youth week programme proved to be a huge annual success until the pandemic interrupted it like many other such activity weeks. This year a full range of activities will once again be available. Based at the centre in Tinney’s Lane a number of craft, arts, music and other activities for 10 – 16 years will be taking place each day under the ‘Focus on Youth’ banner. In addition this year and as part of the Focus on Youth programme Sherborne School for Girls will be running two sessions at the Oxley Sports Centre. A climbing session and a swim float/fun session. This year there are just two external minibus trips from Tinney’s. These will be for morning and afternoon sessions at Oxfords bakery in Alweston for their baking masterclass. In addition to all the ‘Focus on Youth’ activities the successful football week for 6 – 12 years will operate each day. This year it has been renamed and will operate under the banner of ‘Focus on Football’. It is being run by Champion Skill School using FA qualified coaches with morning and afternoon sessions. There are special prices available for all day, all mornings or all afternoon bookings. All bookings are online this year. Each session has a specific maximum number of participants so early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. All bookings are on a first come first served basis.

The Great Dorset Chilli Festival
The first August weekend see the Great Dorset Chilli Festival back at the new venue of Stock Gaylard Deer Park, near Sturminster Newton, with over 100 tradestands, the Great Dorset Chilli Festival is set to be the hottest weekend this summer. Locals and visitors will be able to visit the 2 day food festival celebrating the world of chilli peppers, from growing chilli plants and sampling chilli sauces, to enjoying international street food and of course watching the chilli eating competition. However it’s not just chillies, so if spice isn’t your thing there is plenty of artisan food shopping to be done, plus homewares such as hand-painted ceramics to watercolours for the kitchen, to leathercraft and beautifully crafted wooden chopping boards. Live music, falconry and children’s entertainment make it a fun day out for all the family. www.greatdorsetchillifestival.co.uk
