Still time to fine tune for triathlon event
Wessex Wizards Triathlon Club are holding the Oxley Triathlon, featuring amateur athletes from across the Wessex region, in August.
Club members, who train at Oxley Sports Centre, are inviting triathletes to join them for this year’s event, which is open to solo athletes and teams.
Those taking part will swim in the excellent pool at Oxley Sport Centre before a quick run to the first transition and cycle route which takes in stunning Dorset scenery.
Competitors will then head on to the 5km or 10 km runs, which head through Sherborne and an inspirational view of Sherborne Castle.
Six races are taking place on Sunday, 21 August, giving interested runners/riders/ swimmers time to get ‘match fit’ to participate.
Oxley Triathlon events: Sprint: 300m swim, 20km bike, 5km run; Sprint Aquabike: 300m swim, 20km bike; Team Sprint Relay: 300m swim, 20km bike, 5km run; Classic: 750m swim, 40km bike and 10km run; Classic Aquabike: 750m swim, 40km bike, 10km run; Team Classic Relay: 750m swim, 40km bike, 10km run.

Calling all sports clubs!
The New Blackmore Vale loves sport in all its forms. Yes, admittedly we’re mostly into watching rather than running – we blame our bad knees/love of cake/shape and size – but we want to hear from you.
You don’t need to be hugely competitive, all team age groups and all sports are welcome.
Let our team put your team on the map: see your match reports in print, reach out to new members and spread the word about upcoming events and fixtures.
