Europe’s largest airline group, Ryanair, is to start new flights to Venice from Bournemouth Airport. A twice-weekly service will begin operating from December 22 this year meaning passengers will be able to get away to the Italian city all year round. Flights to Marco Polo Airport will leave Bournemouth every Thursday and Sunday and are now available to book at ryanair.com. Venice is one of the most visited cities in Italy. It boasts some of the country’s best known tourist attractions, including St Mark’s Square, the Basilica, Doge’s Palace and the worldrenowned Grand Canal with its gondolas. The announcement of the new flights is an addition to Ryanair’s existing programme of 16 destinations available from Bournemouth Airport. These include Zadar (Croatia), Bergerac (France), Budapest (Hungary), Dublin (Ireland), Malta, Krakow, and Wroclaw (Poland), Faro (Portugal), Alicante, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Malaga, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, and Tenerife (Spain). Passengers flying from Bournemouth Airport are now able to choose from a total of 34 destinations in 17 countries during 2022/23. Steve Gill, managing director of Bournemouth Airport, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that our customers will now be able to fly to this beautiful Italian destination. “We warmly welcome the announcement which will give passengers even more choice when flying from their local airport. “Venice is a stunning city with so much to do, whether you’re planning a weekend break or longer holiday, so this is great news and a fantastic addition to our schedule.” The full list of destinations available from Bournemouth Airport in 2022/23 is: Cyprus: Paphos Croatia: Zadar (new for 2022) France: Bergerac Greece: Corfu, Crete, Kefalonia, Rhodes, Zante Hungary: Budapest (new for 2022) Ireland: Dublin Italy: Venice Lapland: Enontekiö, Ivalo, Pajala Malta (new for 2022) Poland: Krakow, Wroclaw (new for 2022) Portugal: Faro Spain: Alicante, Girona, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Majorca, Malaga, Menorca, Murcia, Tenerife Switzerland: Geneva Turkey: Antalya, Dalaman Special Departures: Barbados (fly/cruise), Fjords (fly/cruise), Bergamo (Italian Lakes), Arctic Circle.

ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE Make sure of your powers
Did you know that if your parents became ill and needed help to manage their money, you would not automatically be able to take over and deal with things on their behalf? Nobody would automatically be able to use their bank account or have access to their savings. Unless your parents have planned ahead and made the proper arrangements, you won’t have the vital powers you need to be able to use your parents’ money to pay their bills. You won’t be able to step in or take over if your parents become confused or develop dementia and need to pay for care. The solution is for your parents to create the formal legal documents that give you the ability to help them manage their money, either temporarily or long term, and allow you to access services on their behalf. These legal documents are called Lasting Powers of Attorney and are complex forms which need to be completed correctly to be valid. We can help your parents to put these documents in place to make sure they are ready to use if the need arises. If you have any unanswered questions, or would like a home visit for help to make these important documents, please get in touch by calling 07860 772274 or emailing christine@winterbornelegal. co.uk. What is a Lasting Power of Attorney, and do you need one?
If you need somebody to rely on in later years, perhaps to take over making decisions on your behalf, that person will need your formal written authority. This authority is given by creating a Lasting Power of Attorney. Lasting Powers of Attorney are documents that, when registered, mean you have given another person legal power to deal with financial decisions for you, or medical and welfare decisions. At Winterborne Legal Services we can help you to put suitable protection in place in your Lasting Power of Attorney, so that you can be comfortable giving power to your children. Making a Lasting Power of Attorney can be a big leap of faith for you, if you have any questions we are ready to help. Please call us on 07860 772274 or email

What a birthday! Julie Laming, above, had never won anything like it in her life. Until her 45th birthday. The Principal of Mad4Dance dance school received the top Business of the Year award at the inaugural Christchurch Business Awards. Mad4Dance, founded by Julie in 2004 and now with 300 students a week aged three upwards, was also named Health, Beauty and Fitness Business of the Year. Julie, who is the founder of the charity Helping Young Minds, said: “I feel quite overwhelmed. “It was great to win the health, beauty and fitness category – and it means a lot to me – but to be the overall winner when there are so many amazing businesses here was unbelievable.” Husband Mark added: “I’m really, really proud. “She’s done so much over the last 15 years so to be recognised in this way makes it feel really special.” A total of 14 awards were presented at the lunchtime event, held at the Captain’s Club Hotel & Spa. Christchurch mayor Avril Coulton described the event as ‘absolutely fabulous’. She added: “I’m amazingly proud of Christchurch and its businesses. “Christchurch has my heart.” Nigel Reeve, of MW Events, which organised the awards – one of 12 in towns across Dorset – said he had been surprised by both the number, and variety, of entries. He said: “As with our other awards, there was a huge increase in the number of entries in the Green/Eco category. “The range of businesses taking part was also very impressive. “Overall we had 202 entries and nominations which, for an area the size of Christchurch, is huge. “When the votes started coming in, and we started to see who were the winners, it was the range of businesses that really surprised me.” Dorset Biz News was official media partner for the awards while Hot Radio was the radio partner.
