newsdesk@stourandavon.net Patrick Fensterseifer, head chef at St Ives House care home near Ringwood, took part in a 100km charity walk to fundraise for LewisManning Hospice Care and raised an amazing total of £900. All the donations have been given to the hospice and will go towards helping them continue providing crucial care and support to patients facing life-limiting illnesses and their families. The charity’s work is incredibly important as it really increases people’s physical and social wellbeing, helps reduce isolation and loneliness, and, very importantly, alleviates the huge pressures faced every day by family and carers of the patients. Patrick says he is glad he was able to help: “I am so overwhelmed by the amount of support and money raised by doing this walk. “I was absolutely delighted to take part in the challenge for such a fantastic cause. “The help and care that Lewis-Manning Hospice Care provides is second to none and I wanted to give something back. “I would like to extend my thanks to all those who donated and the huge support of the team at St Ives House.” Director of fundraising at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, Tom Goodinge, added, “What a fantastic amount of money Patrick has raised for the charity. From all our staff, nurses and patients, we would like to say a huge thank you to him and to everyone who donated to his fundraiser and helped raise money. “These vital funds will help so many local lives who need hospice care and will be facing some of the toughest and most difficult times they will ever go through.” St Ives House offers residential, dementia and respite care.

Witness appeal as three are arrested in poaching probe
Armed officers and a helicopter were sent to a rural area near Blandford following an alleged poaching incident. Dorset Police said that at 8.59pm on Friday, July 30 they received a report that somebody was driving a silver 4x4 type vehicle in fields, targeting hares and damaging property. Officers attended, including armed response units, as well as the National Police Air Service helicopter. It was reported that the car was followed by officers and a number of men attempted to make off. Following a search, four men – a 27-year-old from Basildon, a 24-year-old from Romford, a 21-year-old from the Cambridge area and a 19-yearold from Essex – were arrested in relation to the incident and released under investigation. Dorset Police also seized two dogs as well as a vehicle with its contents and a suspected air rifle. Now they are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. PC Sebastian Haggett, of Dorset Police’s Rural Crime Team, said: “Our team has been in the area to conduct reassurance patrols and engage with the rural community. Officers from the response units have been briefed about the incident and will continue to proactively patrol the area. “Dorset Police takes reports of rural crime seriously and we would urge anyone who witnesses suspected poaching in progress to contact Dorset Police on 999.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at dorset.police.uk, email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or call 101, ref 55210122794.
