Accounting
Who Are Accountants? Accountants are certified financial experts who assist individuals or organisations with accounts. This involves providing information that investors and owners need to see trends in business health. They are skilled problem solvers and strategic advisors that add significant value to their employers or clients. Types of Accountants There are two primary types of accountants - public, and private - both focusing on different aspects of the profession. Public accountants provide external auditing, tax, advisory and consulting services, requiring certification and testing to ensure skills remain relevant. Private accountants are concerned with the internal workings of businesses, governments and agencies. Generally, accountants will begin in the public sector, gaining a broad range of experience in the early years of their careers. The requirement of remaining certified makes public accounting a less popular long-term career, and most accountants will eventually transition into the private sector, leveraging their public sector experience.
