Welcome I‘m delighted to welcome you to this year’s STEM Careers Fair.

Our highly popular event sees over 70 exhibitors attending, enabling you to discuss internships, placements, graduate roles and further study opportunities with a range of the country’s top organisations working in Science and Technology sectors. Our own team will also be on hand to provide the latest information and advice. Although of particular benefit to those from the College of Engineering, Mathematics & Physical Sciences, the College of Life & Environmental Sciences, Business School and Medical School, this event is open to all students, regardless of degree or year group. To make the most of your visit, take time to familiarise yourself with the organisations

attending by reading through the entries in this brochure and check their location on the floor plan. Make your first impression a positive and lasting one, with the help of the useful hints and tips listed within this guide and by visiting the Career Zone website. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors, Newton Europe, for their generous support of the fair. We look forward to seeing you at the event! Paul Blackmore Head of Student Employability and Academic Success

From our sponsors We are Newton.

NEVER NOT PUTTING OUR MONEY WHERE OUR MOUTH IS. NEVER NOT NEWTON. Every organisation we work with is different. And each project presents its own unique challenges. But there are certain things that define us as a business and they’re manifest in absolutely everything we do. Like our risk-free pricing model, which guarantees the fee we charge will never exceed the financial benefits we deliver. Find out more at WorkAtNewton.com

We’re a team of the brightest and most curious minds with a fundamental belief that every organisation can be better. We crack some of the toughest business and public sector challenges of the day. Not with reports or copy and paste thinking, but by pinpointing and implementing the changes that will make the biggest difference – and then guaranteeing our fees against delivering measurable results. We never start out assuming we know the answer, but we’re always certain we’ll find it and see it through to the finish. By uncovering the data that

means the most important decisions are made with facts, not opinions. By bringing together people who live and breathe delivering results. And by embedding in client organisations this same passion, self-belief and know-how to thrive on any challenge in the future. We demand better in everything we do. We think you should too. We are sponsoring this year’s STEM Careers Fair at Exeter as we truly believe that Exeter has some of the most exciting young candidates and we look forward to meeting you. Apply online at: WorkAtNewton.com

TOP TIP #3

Check in advance who is coming to the fair. Draw up a wish list and focus on them.

Do your research! Familiarise yourself with what an organisation offers and importantly, what they are seeking in their recruits.

Prepare some questions and tailor them. Don’t ask questions which you can find the answers to easily elsewhere.
