Dear Colleagues, We are excited to introduce you to our 2019-2020 graduates of the Joint PhD Program in Social Work and Social Science at the University of Michigan. They will be change agents ushering in the next wave of innovation in social work research, practice and policy. The Joint PhD Program in Social Work and Social Science prepares our doctoral students for teaching and research careers through the advancement of knowledge about social problems, social change, social interventions and social welfare. Our curriculum integrates comprehensive graduate training in a specific social science discipline with advanced studies and research in various areas of social work. University of Michigan faculty create a robust interdisciplinary culture, and mentor students in a broad range of research areas and disciplinary specializations, which empower students to extend their reach, deepen their impact and create real social change. As you review their curriculum vitae, research and teaching statements, you will find that our graduates have published in both social work and social science journals. They have presented at national conferences such as the Council on Social Work Education and the Society for Social Work and Research, and have secured funding or demonstrated the ability to find research funding. Please contact Joint PhD Program Coordinator Todd Huynh at (734) 763-5768 or ssw.phd.info@umich.edu if you would like more information. He can also facilitate a meeting with the graduates. Go Blue!
