Half-Day Camps Around the World Music (Ages 3-6) Afternoons all 5 weeks Take a journey around the world through dance, music, and games. Explore instruments from other places and sing in a foreign language. At the end of the week, share what you have learned with family and friends.

Conservatory Creative Camp (Ages 3-6) Mornings or Afternoons all 5 weeks Move beyond the world of colouring books and play dough to explore other artistic forms of expression, including movement, singing and painting.

Magic Toy Shop (Ages 3-6) Mornings all 5 weeks Enter the world of the Magic Toy Shop where children become moving toys and stories are told with dance. In this half day program, your child will explore the fundamentals of various dance styles and nurture his or her own inner dancer.

String Your Parents Along (Ages 4-6) Morning July 4-8 Spend some time with a cello or violin - get to know a new instrument and have fun doing it. In this half day camp, parent and child will experience the joy of discovery and receive an introduction to studying strings at the Conservatory. Parents are required to attend with their child. Fees are determined per child, maximum two children per parent.

Clayworks Pottery (Ages 7-10) Mornings all July Use your imagination to create everything from crazy creatures to funky functional pieces. Learn the basics of hand building and decoration in clay to enliven your unique works of ceramic art.

Discover Pottery (Ages 11-14) Afternoons all July Explore the creative possibilities of clay with exciting projects to challenge all skill levels. Learn the basics of sculpture and hand building with an introduction to the pottery wheel.

(Ages 11-14) Mornings all July or (Ages 7-10) Afternoons all July Turn the images in your head into 3D creations. Use various materials - including household items and recyclables to make small sculptures and a large group installation. Build your confidence creating art and put up a small gallery show to display your work at the end of the week.


New Full-Day Camps Artist Trading Cards (Ages 10-12) August 2-5 Explore the world of Artist Trading Cards (ATC’s) as you create card-sized miniature works of art. Learn the origin of ATC’s, see thousands of examples from professional artists and other kids, explore various mediums and techniques, personalize your own ATC binder and create then trade cards with other campers. Whether you are an ATC rookie or expert, everyone will have fun as you sample drawing, painting, collage, stamping, printmaking and more creating ATC’s.

Comic Book Hero (Ages 8-12) July 18-22 Have you ever wanted to create a comic book or graphic novel but don’t know where to start? Learn from the comic book greats and put together a short panelled story by the week’s end. Develop characters and a short storyline using techniques to tell an effective visual story. Build both your drawing and creative writing skills and learn tips and hints to take home and try on your own.

Conservatory Juventus Junior Choir Camp (Ages 8-12) July 4-8 The Conservatory Juventus Junior Choir offers the opportunity for developing singers to work on their vocal skills in a fun and nurturing environment. Whether you have performed with the group before or are new to choir, you will spend the week learning new repertoire and improving vocal skills to prepare for a short performance at the end of the week. No previous experience necessary.

Conservatory Juventus Senior Choir Camp (Ages 12-18) July 18-22  The Conservatory Juventus Senior Choir runs throughout the year as an auditioned treble choir. This non-auditioned camp is for both new and returning students of the Conservatory Juventus Senior Choir looking for a musical challenge and wanting to learn basic musical theory. Previous experience in choirs/singing is an asset but not required.

Dance Expressions (Ages 8-12) July 4-8 or August 2-5 How do you translate ideas and emotions into dance choreography? Spend the week learning basic contemporary dance techniques and choreography then create a small themed dance showcase with your classmates to perform at the end of the week.

Glee (Ages 10-14) July 4-8 & July 11-15, (Ages 8-12) July 18-22 & July 25-29 In this two week long course, spend even more time singing, acting, and dancing to create a show big enough for the stages on Broadway! Half of your time will focus on acting while you block scenes and work to memorize lines. Then build vocal skills and learn choreography, while you sing songs from the show. Go from audition to putting the production together in two short weeks! The final performance is scheduled for the last Friday of each two week course. Please note: Each section will be rehearsing the same musical, please only register for one section.


Let’s Dance! (Ages 11-14) July 18-22 or August 2-5 Aspiring dancers of all levels - from complete beginners to dance studio veterans - experience the joy of movement and music. Explore basic elements of jazz, ballet and contemporary dance and use them to create a fabulous show at the end of the week.

Puppetry (Ages 10-12) July 11-15 or July 25-29 Puppeteers of all kinds, get ready for this exciting immersive camp. From shadow puppets to hand puppets, develop and create exciting characters to incorporate into a series of small performances and skits to showcase at the end of the week. Work on storytelling and puppet making all while improving your artistic skills and building community with your fellow campers.

Rock Star Violin (Starting Suzuki Book 3 or Up) July 11-15 Explore the world of pop and rock music in this week long string camp. Working with popular music, campers learn to arrange a few of today’s best hits. From learning the melody to working with chording, rhythm and harmonies, campers will be learning the language of music and theory in a hands-on experimental way! Learning has never been so fun! Violins not included.

Young Songwriter’s Circle (Ages 12-18) July 25-29 Are you an aspiring singer-songwriter? In this one week course, build up your musical knowledge by learning basic music theory and history in addition to basic piano/guitar chords that can be structured together to make a song. Focus on poetic writing and by the end of the week pair your lyrics with a musical track to create a song that is performance ready. Previous guitar or piano experience is an asset.

Special Full-Day Partnership Camps Run, Explore, Create! (Ages 7-9) July 11-15 In this arts and sports camp, participants get to travel the world while never having to leave home. Each day will focus on a different region of the world as participants play, move and create art. Participate in sports from around the globe, sing traveling songs, swim in the ocean and so much more. There’s never a dull moment! Please note: Run in partnership with KHS Summer Sports School, this camp will take place on the U of R Main Campus.

Wonderful Wizarding World (Ages 10-12) July 11-15 In this combination arts and sports camp, you will develop your own wizarding schools, create duelling skits and play wizarding world games like Quidditch. Can you swim to save your friends from mermaids or face obstacles to steal a golden egg from a dragon? Don’t wait for your invitation to come by owl, this camp is for all muggles and wizards alike. Please note: Run in partnership with KHS Summer Sports School, this camp will take place on the U of R Main Campus.


Chinese Culture and Language Camp Junior (Ages 6-9) July 4-8 or Senior (Ages 10-14) July 11-15  Learn basic Chinese language, explore Chinese culture and have fun! Campers will learn about the Chinese language in the morning. Then in the afternoon, both junior and senior groups experience different aspects of Chinese art and culture including instrument playing, singing, Chinese ink and wash painting, paper cutting and much more! The senior group will also watch movies and explore storytelling. For both camps there will be a Friday afternoon graduation performance and ceremony. Full-Day Camps Art Fusion (Ages 8-10) July 25-29 or August 2-5 Be inspired by some of history’s master artists. Study techniques of artists like van Gogh, Rembrandt and da Vinci, in addition to contemporary masters. Combine age old visual art theory and new techniques to create your own masterworks that will be compiled for a gallery showcase on Friday.

Arts Explorer (Ages 6-8) July 4-8, July 18-22 or August 2-5 Move. Listen. Speak. Draw. Sing. Set your imagination free as you discover a love of the arts through dance, music, visual arts, storytelling and drama.

Behind the Scenes (Ages 8-12) July 11-15 or (Ages 10-14) July 25-29 Grab a hammer, some paint, a needle and thread, and discover what goes on backstage in a dramatic production. This is a great opportunity to be involved in drama and musical theatre without having to be front and centre onstage. During the week campers will create sets, props and costumes, and work behind the scenes in two different productions.

Claymation (Ages 10-12) July 4-8 or July 18-22 With stop motion animation the sky is the limit! Use your imagination to create a narrative and bring a story to life using clay, craft items and household materials to form the sets and characters. Use digital cameras to take the pictures, then edit your group’s film in time for a screening on the last day of camp.

Creative Drama Studio (Ages 8-10) July 11-15, July 25-29 or August 2-5 From mermaids to dragons to spies to monsters, there are no limits when you create your own story and production! Work with the group to come up with themes and ideas for a drama collective and then devise a way to put a theatre production together by the end of the week.


Guitar (Ages 8-12) July 4-8, July 18-22 or August 2-5 Not ready for private lessons but want to learn more about the guitar? Explore basic components of playing guitar like strumming and reading tab/music notation, then create visual art to enhance a stage performance for the week’s end. Guitars will be provided.

First Nations Culture Camp (Ages 8-12) July 18-22 or July 25-29 Spend a week exploring the culture and diversity of First Nations peoples. Experience the exhilaration of powwow dancing, try the fine art of beading, express yourself through traditional and modern music, and much, much more. This is a great chance to learn from and about our Indigenous neighbours.

Improv (Ages 11-14) July 11-15 The challenge: think on your feet and respond to the unexpected. Use your gift of making things up to go with the flow and engage in theatre games and scene building, no matter where they may take you.

Junior Glee Chorus (Ages 6-8) July 11-15 Be part of an exciting singing group that uses coordinated movement set to traditional songs and popular music. Create an awe-inspiring song and dance performance that will be showcased at the end of the week. This camp provides excellent preliminary singing and dancing experience for campers interested but not yet ready for our intensive Glee musical theatre camps.

Showtime (Ages 11-14) July 25-29 Tread the boards of the stage and learn what it means to be an actor: audition for a part, learn lines, develop characters and rehearse scenes. Discover many elements of the theatre process from beginning to end.

Story to Stage (Ages 6-8) July 11-15 or July 25-29 Bring a story to life! Use costumes, sets and props to create a life-sized version of a book or story. You may hear it for the first time on Monday, but by Friday you will be ready to present a dramatic production for family and friends.

The Olympians (Ages 11-14) July 4-8 or (Ages 8-10) July 18-22 Learn the skill of stage combat and fight choreography as you create a character for the week and interact with others to create a story that is bigger than life. Be inspired by gladiators, medieval times, mythological worlds and fantasy and fiction writing like Percy Jackson or the Hunger Games. Present your story and your newly acquired skills to family and friends at a stage show on Friday.
