MINI ARTISTS

Half-Day Camps for Ages 3-6 Conservatory Creative Camp (AM or PM every week in July and August) Sing, dance, and act your way through our Conservatory Creative themed camps. Themes this summer include: Jumping All Around, Silly Monsters, Actors & Actresses, Pets, Rescue Teams, Singers & Songwriters, Visual Artists, and Here Comes Fall. Please note that the AM/PM sessions each week contain the same content, please only register for one half day each week.

JUNIOR ARTISTS

Full-Day Camps for Ages 6-8 Junior Glee (July 16-20, July 30-August 3) Sing and dance to pop music and show tunes to put together a musical revue for performance.

Music Explorer (July 23-27, August 20-24) Learn about and play a variety of percussion instruments in this music sampler class. From drums, Boomwhackers, xylophones, and more, each day is a new musical adventure!

NEW Visual Art Explorer (July 9-13, August 13-17) Discover a variety of art mediums and artmaking techniques all week. From watercolour painting to oil pastel drawing to sculpture making, explore what it means to be a visual artist.

Story to Stage (July 3-6*, August 7-10*) Bring a story to life! Use costumes, sets, and props to create life-sized versions of a story or book.


INTERMEDIATE ARTISTS Full-Day Camps for Ages 8-12

Behind the Scenes (July 23-27) Learn new skills as you work with our theatre camps to create props, sets and costumes for their performances.

Comic Book Hero (July 16-20, July 30-August 3) Learn from the comic book greats and put together a short panelled story by the week’s end. Build both your drawing and creative writing skills and learn tips and hints to take home and try on your own.

Creative Drama Studio (July 9-13, August 13-17) From mermaids to dragons to spies to monsters, use the week to work around a theme with your group to devise a drama collective or one act play. Then rehearse your production to showcase on Friday. Each week is a new adventure!

Guitar (July 9-13) Explore basic components of playing guitar like strumming and reading tab/music notation then create a stage performance for the week’s end. Guitars will be provided.

Just Keep Singing (July 3-6*, August 7-10*) Discover the joy of singing in a choir. Sing along and learn more about “Pop Music” July 3-6 or “Rock Music” August 7-10 and find your voice.


NEW Pop Idols (August 20-24) Taking inspiration from global pop groups, form an idol group and rehearse and choreograph a group theme song to present to family and friends at the end of the week. Design everything for your group including your unique fashion style to your signature dance moves when you hit the stage for your debut.

Senior Glee (1 Week) (July 30-August 3, August 13-17) Dance, sing, and act to create a musical theatre production big enough for the stages on Broadway. Each week will explore a new musical theatre production, so, join us all summer to secure your triple threat status.

Senior Glee (2 Week) (July 16-20 & July 23-27) In this special 2 week session, the Senior Glee class will stage a Music Theatre International Broadway Junior KIDS 30-minute musical production. Watch website for show details. No audition required before registration.

NEW Visual Art 101 (July 3-6*, August 7-10*, August 20-24) Learn the basic of visual art in these themed art camps. On July 3-6, explore the creation of Cityscapes & Landscapes. On August 7-10, build your skills in drawing Portraits & People in a variety of unique styles. On August 20-24, you can immense yourself in Fantasy Worlds and design mythical creatures and imaginary environments.

PARTNERSHIP CAMPS KHS Summer Sports School

Run, Explore, Create! (July 9-13) ages 7-9 In this arts and sports camp, participants get to travel the world while never having to leave home. Each day will focus on a different region of the world as participants play, move, and create art. Participate in sports from around the globe, sing traveling songs, swim in the ocean, and so much more. Never a dull moment! Run in partnership with KHS Summer Sports School.

Wonderful Wizarding World (July 9-13), ages 10-12 In this combination arts and sports camp, you will develop your own wizarding schools, create duelling skits, and play wizarding world games like Quidditch. Can you swim to save your friends from mermaids or face obstacles to steal a golden egg from a dragon? Don’t wait for your invitation to come by owl, this camp is for all muggles and wizards alike. Run in partnership with KHS Summer Sports School.


ART LEADERS

Full-Day Camps for Ages 11-14

Guitar (July 16-20) Explore basic components of playing guitar like strumming and reading tab/music notation then create a stage performance for the week’s end. Guitars will be provided.

Improv (July 3-6*, August 7-10*) The challenge: think on your feet and respond to the unexpected. Use your gift of making things up to go with the flow and engage in theatre games and scenes, no matter where they may take you.

NEW Scriptwriting (July 30-August 3) Dive into the world of scriptwriting. Work in writing teams or individually to develop characters, scenarios, and unique worlds and learns the fine points of how to write a script for the stage or screen.

Showtime (July 9-13, August 20-24) Treads the boards of the stage and learn what it means to be an actor: audition for a part, learn lines, develop characters, rehearse scenes, and stage a show in only one week. Each week will explore a new one act play, so, join us all summer and hone your acting skills.

NEW Songwriting (August 13-17) Develop your skills in poetic writing to create lyrics for a brand new song in a genre of your choice. Learn about different song structures and basics of music theory throughout the week. No previous music experience is required.

The Olympians (July 23-27) Learn the skill of stage combat and fight choreography as you create a character for the week and interact with others to create a story that is bigger than life. Present your story and your newly acquired skills to family and friends at a stage show on Friday.

Camp Locations All camps take place at the University of Regina Main Campus, 3737 Wascana Parkway in the Classroom, Laboratory, and Riddell Centre Buildings. A camp package will be e-mailed prior to camps with exact room locations of your child’s camp and drop-off and pick-up locations.
