I also take the odd history class. Although I hated history in high school, I find that as I get older and have lived recent history, it is more interesting. I have found classes on religion interesting.” - George Maier “Through [my] experience, I discovered that my fellow students and I shared many common benefits. Not only the development of a love of star-gazing, but more importantly interest and enthusiasm that come with gathering people of all ages and backgrounds into one room to enjoy a common interest.” - Chris Berg

It was created by a federal statute 142 years ago. Although coming quietly and late into the nation's basic structure, it is a fundamentally important constitutional body. It has played a vital role in shaping Canada's political context and practices and in defining its social values. It is a general court of appeal, a court like any other in terms of caseload, yet it is Canada's constitutional court exercising a great power in the Canadian state. Who are these nine lawyers, how are they appointed, how do they decide when to act, and in what way are they accountable for their decisions? Presenter: Dr. John Whyte Day Jun 22
