NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION Garnet Rotation Group ORIENTATION CHECK-IN & BREAKFAST

7:30 a.m. - 8:10 a.m. Greene Street Receive all your materials for Orientation and grab breakfast in the Russell House. Representatives from Undergraduate Admissions and University Health Services will be available to take care of any unfinished checklist items you may have.

Russell House Ballroom The Office of New Student Orientation and the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support will officially welcome you to the University of South Carolina! Get excited to learn more about different services available to you as a Gamecock and hear from a variety of offices about navigating your first semester while you begin to make South Carolina feel like home.

CAROLINA CONVERSATIONS

9 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. Various Locations Get to know other South Carolina students as your Orientation Leaders guide you through introductions and group activities.

PARTNERS IN TRANSITION

9 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. Russell House Ballroom This presentation will focus on challenges students may face in their transition to South Carolina and how families and/ or guests can support them. It will also cover the variety of resources provided by the university.

ACADEMIC COLLEGE VISITS

10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

Various Locations Orientation Leaders will guide you to your academic college’s building. There you will hear from faculty and staff as they provide an overview of your program and answer questions you have about your major.

ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Various Locations Students will meet with academic advisors in their academic college to discuss program requirements, curriculum and course options for their first semester. To find the location of your advising appointment based on your academic college, scan the QR code below.

COURSE REGISTRATION

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Various Locations In the same location as your advising appointment, students will use this time to register for classes. Orientation Leaders will be available in Russell House rm. 205 for course registration support.

FAMILY AND GUEST LOUNGE

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. RHUU 315 While your student is in advising and registration, stop by the family and guest lounge to meet other families, unwind and chat with Orientation Leaders.

LUNCH

11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Russell House First Floor Dining Enjoy lunch with other new students and families.

RESOURCE FAIR

2 p.m. - 3 p.m. Russell House Ballroom The Resource Fair is a great opportunity to chat with on- and off-campus offices before the start of classes! Attendees will be able to walk through the Russell House Ballroom to learn more about resources available to students at South Carolina.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS

2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Various Locations Students and families will have the opportunity to hear from a variety of on-campus offices about how they can support you during your time at South Carolina. Attendees will be able to pick which breakout session they would like to attend during two different rotations. See below for the presentation descriptions. Session A: 2:30 p.m. - 2:55 p.m. Session B: 3 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Student Success Center RHUU Thriving as a Transfer Student 305 Session A & B Find out what it takes to be successful at the University of South Carolina. Explore college level expectations with Student Success Center staff, and start your first year at Carolina off right with important information about academic success at UofSC. Career Center leaders share resources for getting started on the path to employability by finding your career path, gaining experiences and developing career readiness skills to prepare for life beyond UofSC’s gates.

3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Greene Street Before you leave for the day, stop by Greene Street to get any last-minute questions answered by Orientation Leaders, complete a program evaluation and receive your free gift!

CAMPUS BUSINESS CHECKLIST

When you are not in your assigned advising and registration appointment time, we recommend getting a head start on some tasks before the first day of classes. Make sure to check them off as you work through the list below! 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. CAROLINACARD PICK-UP RHUU Basement Students can take this time to get their CarolinaCard. Don’t forget that you must have a government-issued I.D. in order to pick it up! 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. UNIVERSITY BOOKSTORE RHUU First Floor The on-campus bookstore is the easiest place to get all the necessary books you need for your semester. Go by after course registration to learn about buying new or used books or renting textbooks, get some Carolina apparel or grab a drink at the cafe. 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. GAMECOCK iHUB Byrnes Building, 901 Sumter Street Checkout the Gamecock iHub — the University of South Carolina’s Apple Authorized Campus Store serving UofSC students, faculty and staff members, and alumni. They are your resource for technology and services that inspire, connect and empower, including Apple® products at low education pricing.

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. ASK AN ORIENTATION LEADER RHUU 201 Stop by and ask current students about life at UofSC and getting adjusted to campus. 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. CAMPUS AND CLASSROOM TOUR Greene Street Our Orientation Leaders will show you around key areas on campus and give you the option to locate your classes before the first day.
