This curated exhibition was funded by a UWE early career research grant and builds upon work undertaken by Laidler into his PhD, ‘Collaborative Digital Wide Format Printing: Methods and Considerations for the Artist and Master Printer’ (2011). This research explores the impact of digital technology on the working process of a practice-led artist within the field of printmaking which has been traditionally centred within the hand and mechanical machine.

UTAH BALLET ONE • OCT 6-8 & 20-22 2016 The School of Dance presents the works of nationally and internationally acclaimed faculty and guest choreographers in the Utah Ballet performance series. This season opens with ‘Les Sylphides’ and new works by guest choreographer Ilya Kozadayev and faculty Melonie Murray and Jay Kim.
SCHOOL OF DANCE GALA CONCERT • MAR 23-25 & 30-APRIL 1 2017 A performance representing and celebrating the School of Dance including works from the Ballet and Modern Dance Programs, and works by guest faculty and choreographers featuring an excerpt of ‘MiddleSexGorge’ by noted New York Choreographer Stephen Petronio.

CAMERATA AWARDS CONCERT GALA • NOV 4 2016 The Camerata Awards Concert Gala celebrates the contributions of musicians and patrons of the arts to the University of Utah and the broader community. The School of Music honors two Camerata Award recipients each year at a private dinner and public concert. The event offers inspiration, thanks to the passion, dedication and talent of each year’s honorees, and showcases the school’s young performers.
PUCCINI’S “LA RONDINE” • APRIL 21-22 2017 Performed first in 1917, Puccini’s “La Rondine” blends love, passion, longing, and religious constricts
admidst the changing morals and societal expectations of the late 19th Century. Rarely performed, this Puccini is an under-appreciated gem, so you won’t want to miss it.

GUILLERMO GALINDO: SONIC BORDER • OCT 6 2016
Experimental composer Guillermo Galindo will talk about his work and give a live musical performance based on his collaboration with photographer Richard Misrach‹a project that involves fabricating musical instruments and graphic musical scores from items recovered at the Mexico-U.S. border.

Ragamala Dance Company creates dance landscapes that dwell in opposition to find the transcendence that lies in between. The evening will begin with a showcase of Salt Lake’s own talented Bharatanatyam dancers, including ChitraKaavya Dance and Nitya Nritya Dance Company, followed by Sacred Earth, Ragamala co-Artistic Directors Ranee and Aparna Ramaswamy’s singular vision of the beautiful, fragile relationship between nature and man.
Sō PERCUSSION • FEB 3 2017 • LIBBY GARDNER CONCERT HALL Virtuoso Concert Series in Partnership with the School of Music
Sō Percussion is a dynamic quartet of percussionists who are redefining the scope of the modern percussion ensemble. Performing music by John Cage, Steve Reich, Paul Lansky, and other composers, Sō uses traditional percussion instruments like snare drums and cymbals combined with unusual instruments including bowed marimba, aluminum pipes, and an amplified cactus. Joined by our very own School of Music faculty and students, the evening will include Sō’s acclaimed version of Steve Reich’s masterpiece “Drumming.”
