Media Arts Cultures (EMJMD) Erasmus Mundus
The “Media Arts Cultures“ joint master‘s program answers the needs of the evolving fields related to the future and heritage of Media Arts Cultures. Our global digital world is filled with new media culture that encompasses the big questions of today such as the processes of globalization, utopias of neuroscience, political repression and surveillance, big data, and the growing digital art world.
“Media Arts Cultures“ addresses academic field as well as the demands of stakeholders from the Creative and Cultural Sector like creative industries, emergent digital businesses, future digital museums, galleries and archives.
“Media Arts Cultures“ is an Erasmus Mundus joint master‘s degree offered in cooperation by a consortium of four universities: University for Continuing Education Krems (Austria), Aalborg University (Denmark), University of Lodz (Poland), Lasalle College of the Arts (Singapore) and in cooperation with associated partners.
Students are taught by the leading edge of international scholars and have the opportunity to study in at least three different universities. During an internship provided by international partners they will get insight into fields of practice. The unparalleled media arts environment of Europe and Asia will grow a new generation of professionals based on the future needs of the field and grounded in rigorous academic training.

Target group University graduates who wish to further their education and training to become future specialists and innovators in Media Arts Cultures and prepare themselves for emerging careers in the creative and cultural sectors, research and academia

MediaArtHistories
“MediaArtHistories“ is the only international study program (CP, MA, Advanced – MA) focusing on preparing art professionals and researchers through a deep exploration of the diverse histories of Media Art, Science and Technology. Offered low-residency in English, students gather 2–3 times a year for intense seminars with internationally renowned media artists and scholars, and complete individual study and project work at their home location. These enriching sessions take place at the University for Continuing Education Krems, Austria or other European locations such as Linz, Austria or Karlsruhe and Berlin, Germany.
“MediaArtHistories“ offers a basis for understanding evolutionary history of audiovisual media, from historic examples such as the Laterna Magica of the 17th century to the algorithmic art of recent decades. Key approaches and methods from Image Science, Media Archaeology and the History of Science & Technology are explored in depth. Courses cover subjects such as computer animation, net art, interactive, telematic and genetic art as well as the most recent reflections on nano art, bio art, video games as art, and digital gender theory.
