A new way of thinking: From centralised to decentralised Why not rethink the way heat and potable hot water are supplied in a building. Uponor Combi Port only require a heating supply and return to be connected to a centralised heating system. Unlike traditional centralised systems, the decentralised solution does not require a hot water tank, or a domestic hot water supply and recirculating system. For hygienic reasons, the water temperature in a traditional centralised potable hot water system needs to remain above 55°C. However, heating the system requires even higher temperatures. Since the decentralised domestic hot water generation system holds less than 3 litres, system temperatures can be kept lower. The supply temperature to the heat exchanger needs only to be 5°C higher than the desired temperature for the domestic hot water. This lower operating temperature, with only one heating pipe flowing to and from the heat interface unit, provides significant energy savings over a traditional system. Hydraulic balancing is also easier with a decentralised system, while the constantly low return temperatures enhance the efficiency of both traditional and renewable heat sources.

A new way of hygiene: Mastering the critical issue In 2015 there were approximately 330,000 reported cases of water related diseases in Europe1, e.g. Legionnaires’ disease, which has a fatality rate of 10 – 15%2. As one of the World’s leading suppliers of drinking water systems, Uponor is committed to providing solutions for hygienic drinking water delivery. Uponor’s Combi Port Heat Interface Units are integral components of the Uponor Hygienic Logic. Hygienic cold potable water is delivered to each unit, which is then heated only when required. The high performance heat exchanger means that there is no need for any stored potable hot water anywhere in the building. With the heating unit drawing from the potable cold water feeding each apartment, the cold water in the whole building is exchanged more frequently, further reducing the risk of contamination from Legionella. The advanced PM valve technology ensures that when its not in use, the heat exchanger remains below the critical temperature that causes the propagation of Legionella.

Combi Port PRO – heat interface unit for mid-size and large apartment buildings with advanced components as well as integrated hydraulic balancing valves. This product is suitable for mains heating applications.

A direct heat interface unit for mains temperature heating applications. This product is also available with a temperature limiter.

A direct heat interface unit, which is suitable for low temperature heat applications. There is also the option to add a secondary unmixed heating circuit.

Uponor Combi Port PRO and BASE units are designed to make ordering and installing HIUs as fast and simple as possible. The units are available in two output capacities in 15 or 19 L per minute with a choice of copper or diffusion soldered heat ­exchanger. The units are equipped with highly sensitive PM valve with IPR protected design and safety technology. A domestic hot water temperature limiter is also available as an optional variant. Uponor Combi Port PRO and BASE are available with either on-wall and in-wall cabinets that are suitable for the demands of almost any project. The in-wall and on-wall cabinets for underfloor heating application are already equipped with the underfloor heating manifolds.

Once on site, the fully configured unit’s installation time is reduced due to the easy ‘plug and play’ connections. The robust, reliable mechanical controls are also easy to use, further reducing the installation time and making the commissioning process very simple. Uponor Combi-port The versatile Combi Port modular platform offers a huge range of options for hygienic domestic hot water generation with either a radiator or underfloor heating outlet.
