The central issue – a decentralised solution The greatest possible safety in drinking water hygiene thanks to an end-to-end system solution from a single source According to the German Federal Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV), landlords and building management companies are responsible for providing hygienically clean drinking water to the consumer. If they fail in this regard, they can be held responsible for any damage to health - for example legionella outbreaks due to stagnation in the pipeline. The greatest possible security is provided by single-source system solutions that are specifically tailored to the requirements of residential developments or office buildings. Uponor combines local fresh domestic hot water units for on-site hot water generation with single-storey distribution by means of a loop installation. Since the risk of contamination is minimised, there is no need for sampling every three years, as required by the German Federal Drinking Water Ordinance, representing a significant financial and organisational saving. In addition, the hot water system solution offers a high level of comfort, while at the same time lowering energy costs thanks to the particularly efficient operation of the heat generator.

Uponor Combi Port and Aqua Port – On demand fresh domestic hot water generation When used in apartments or offices, Uponor's Aqua Ports and Combi Ports enable drinking water to be heated directly thanks to the instantaneous heating principle. There is no need for a hot water tank or a hot water circulation system in the building, minimising the risk of contamination. Thanks to their powerful heat exchangers, the hot water stations also offer a high level of convenience. Water and heat meters can be integrated directly for easy consumption recording. The Aqua Ports and Combi Ports are supplied ready for connection and fully prefabricated in flush-mounted or surfacemounted boxes, saving time and money during installation. For refurbishing apartment blocks: The gas-fired water heater replacement system Uponor Combi Port T1000 is ideal for replacing and removing gas-fired water heaters. The heat interface unit is mounted on the wall in place of the old gas-fired water heater and can be connected quickly and easily to the heating, cold water and hot water pipes. The connections to the primary heating circuit are located at the top of the Combi Port T1000.

Operating mode

Uponor Aqua Ports and Combi Ports are part of a heating system for the supply of apartment blocks with heat and hot drinking water. The system combines the conveniences of decentralised systems with the significant investment benefits of centralised supply systems. Operating principle: In the central heating system, hot water is heated by any energy generator (fossil, regenerative or a combination). Heated to a set temperature, the hot water is stored in a buffer tank and, if necessary, reaches the individual apartments via the heating circuits. This means that each user can control the room temperature individually at any time of the year. Consumption can be accurately measured thanks to heat meters. The drinking water is heated on demand by a heat exchanger inside the Aqua Port and Combi Port without the need for storage. The heat from the heating circuits is transferred to the drinking water according to the counter-current principle. The benefits include the convenience of unlimited hot water in hygienically impeccable quality. The mandatory testing of drinking water according to the revised German Federal Drinking Water Ordinance of November 2012 is inapplicable thanks to the 3 litre rule.

In addition, users can rely on an individually controlled level of heat in their homes throughout the year. Due to the special construction all parts inside the Aqua Ports and Combi Ports are thermally decoupled to avoid unnecessary heat loses. 8

Hygienic water distribution system with loop installation and decentralised, energy-efficient heating of drinking water The single-storey distribution of water plays an important role in the optimisation of drinking water hygiene. In this case, the loop installation supplies the tapping points not in series, but rather from both sides in a ring formation. This ensures that the entire pipeline network is flushed as soon as water is taken from the pipelines at any point in the installation. Thus, stagnation is virtually impossible under normal use. In addition the Smatrix Aqua PLUS flushing unit can be easily integrated into the loop installation to flush the installation automatically

and on demand, if the installation is not frequently used. Furthermore, a high level of convenience in terms of hot water availability is guaranteed at all times - in accordance with the requirements of VDI 6003. The loop installation is implemented with the Uni Pipe PLUS multi- layer composite pipe system, which offers a high degree of safety and hygiene thanks to its DVGW system certification. As only one pipe size is used in this case, the pipe system can be laid quickly and easily.
