The Fireflies are an All-Ages Auxiliary of Cooper Landing Emergency Services! We find fun & creative ways to raise money and perform acts of service!

Our upcoming meeting will be Sunday, March 12th at 35115 Edwards St from 2 - 4 PM. Feel free to bring snacks or refreshments, but by no means feel obligated!
We have an exciting calendar of volunteering & fundraising opportunities that can fit into a wide variety of schedules with varying levels of time commitments! Currently we are accepting fishing flies for our fly tying competition. Flies must be turned in (or mailed in) by April 26th. Please include your name and/or business name with a sentence or two about your fly. Bonus if you include why you support CLES! They can be mailed to CLES PO Box 510 Cooper Landing, AK 99572 or dropped off at CLES. Flies will be displayed at the Library and Softball Tournament (May 1st - June 14th)! The fly that generates the most donations will represent The Fireflies for one year and have bragging rights that last forever! Contact Rachel Mundy 907-9174444 with any questions!

Second Place Winners in the 5/6 District Competition!
February was an exciting month at Cooper Landing School! The annual Battle of the Book competition took place in the beginning of the month. We had three teams competing this year in the 3/4, 5/6, and Middle School categories. This highly competitive academic competition requires teams to read ten to twelve chapter books by a variety of authors. Our students worked hard to read and memorize details about the books for several months. The 5/6 scored high enough to enter the district finals where they placed in second place.

High School students worked hard writing essays for the 2023 George S. And Stella M. Knight Essay contest. Stela’s essay “The Importance of The Constitution” was selected as Alaska’s third place winner!
Congratulations to Molly, Kaia, and Stela! Job well done! We are all very proud of you!
