The New Generation Methodist Men (NGMM)/Upper New York United Methodist Men’s (UNYUMM) goal for 2022 is to promote “serving others.” Here in the Upper New York Conference, our ministry focus in 2021 was to pray, and pray we did!! This year we will focus our efforts and resources on service to

others in need. “Charity sees the need not the cause.” If we are to successfully carry out our planned inperson NGMM/UNYUMM PowerPoint presentations in each of our three Regions of the Upper NY Annual Conference, we must follow all CDC guidelines regarding Covid-19 and its variants. We will continue to labor to draw men throughout this Annual Conference to pray first and foremost, to serve others in need, 8 and to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 9 10 We will be holding an in-person Conference-wide men’s retreat April 29-30 of this year. The 22-hour 11 retreat, with the theme of “Iron Sharpens Iron,” will build upon the 35 men in attendance at the 2021

12 13 Spring Retreat and will again be held at Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center in Greig, NY.

Men also brought donated kit contents that were assembled during our retreat. We will plan for a Spring-time 2022 event to build UMCOR approved cleaning kits, at either a host church or the Mission Central HUB, located at our UNY Methodist Center, Liverpool NY.

We will hold two UMM sponsored “Family Night at the Ballpark” fellowship events in 2022; the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (June 23 - AA Affiliate) and the Syracuse Mets (July 28 - AAA Affiliate) are annual events that raise money for local charities.

Early Response Training (ERT, also known as “Disaster Response”), Amending Through Faith training, wheelchair ramp, and blessing box building training are also in our plans for 2022, while always watching the latest COVID-19 meeting restrictions. When it is safe, we will follow through with such events/trainings to disciple and mentor men of all ages.

We will partner with the Society of St. Andrew to schedule four potato drops during the Fall of 2022 (date and locations are yet to be determined). We will make scheduling potato drops in the Albany and the Rochester areas a priority.

We currently have three completed blessing boxes (outdoor wood cabinets that provide a 24-hour emergency food resource filled with non-perishable foods and hygiene products) to help those in need, be given to a willing church or men’s group.

Binghamton District UMM President John Conklin and Conference UMM Prayer Advocate Ken Summers have successfully established a weekly Zoom prayer event that is open to all men of all ages throughout the Northeast Jurisdiction. Their NGMM/UNYUMM activity takes place most Tuesdays, at 7-8 p.m.

42 43 44 45 Make God bless and keep the UMM men’s ministries of the Upper NY Conference!
