Green white and red are the Italian flag colours so if in doubt dress your child in a combination of these colours. Waistcoats for boys accompanied by knee length trousers. Girls can wear dresses with aprons or long skirts and blouses.

Most Australians wear clothes similar to the west. Cork hats for explorers and Aboriginal clothing may be emulated with a simple head scarf with some dot patterns on the face applied using an eye liner pencil. If in doubt dress your child in red, white and blue and pin a printed Australian paper flag to their clothing using a safety pin.

An ancient Greek outfit could be made by folding and pinning a white sheet using safety pins. Drape the sheet over one shoulder and fasten at the waist. Accompany with a plain white t-shirt. You could add a red sash to transform your child into the Greek god Artemis.

South Africa has so many traditional clothing styles to choose from. Often bright in colour and accompanied with beaded jewellery. A good choice might be to dress your child in a combination of the colours from the brightly coloured South African flag. Add some beaded accessories or a brightly coloured head scarf.

Canada is famous for the police uniform worn by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. An easy way to express a connection to Canada could be to dress your child in only red and white and perhaps make a hand-made maple leaf badge to pin onto their top using safety pins.

India has lots of choices when it comes to national dress. Drape brightly coloured fabric to create a sari for girls. Long shirts for boys with trousers. A combination of the flag colours is also an option.

Bright coloured floral patterns for girls. Long skirts or dresses with a head band covered in flowers. For boys you could make a simple poncho using a blanket or other soft fabric

Brazil is very proud of its football! The football kit colours could be a great option. Or create an outfit using the bright yellow, green and blue from the Brazilian flag.

France has many traditional costumes to choose from. For an easy option dress your child in the Tricolore of blue, white and red. A stripy top accompanied with a beret will definitely give an instant French look.

Beautiful kimonos could be made from a lovely patterned dressing gown, accompanied with a wide belt made from a scarf or wide fabric. Pyjama-style bottoms or a long skirt will finish the look.

Long dresses for girls with comfortable trousers. Boys could be dressed in very wide trousers and a plain oversized shirt with a waistcoat. For an easier option dress your child in red and white to match the country’s flag. Add a paper printed flag as a badge to finish the look.
