Say your prayers. We’ve created our own Uptempo Bible, Sacred Hallows: Rebirth. For this issue, we decided to curate a series of religious-inspired fashion photography editorials that will really get your heart racing, and your list of sins growing. Our concept is divided into three chapters or books, each featuring imagery that represents the theme of that section.
In Book Two: Death, darkness rises. The first few images are taken in cemeteries, offering a first look at death, before moving on to witchcraft and ritual sacrifice. Julia Kiecksee’s “Garden of Angels” diminishes light as angels become demons, followed by the enhancement of envy and evil. Tejal Patni finishes the chapter by giving a glimpse of the underworld.
The issue opens with Book One: Life. The opening image comes from Sylwia Makris’ “Saints” shoot, and depicts a woman carrying new life. From there, we explore religious institutions, floral life, and Lucia Giaciani’s sacred shoot, which deserves its own worship. Book One closes with life being taken, with both a crucifixion and a sexual depiction of the Pietà.
Book Three: Resurrection, is the final chapter, and opens with Jola Skóra’s extremely artistic representation of the Resurrection, followed by Brian Dexter Medija’s erotic portrayal of rising life. Grab your rosary, and count your blessings. You’ll be running to confession when you’re through here. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Peace be with you
