FINDING RIPTIDE Hi everyone, Have I been in sandwich heaven this week! Lunch time on Tuesday found me in the Gibson Quad for Gourmet Grill. It’s springtime and finals are sneaking up on the horizon even for those of us majoring in delicious Tulanian food, so I did some al fresco homework outside the Drawing Board Café before sinking my beak into a Sweet BBQ Pork Sandwich as a reward. The French toast bread and cole slaw topping were an inspired touch! I was thinking I couldn’t have a better treat, but then came Wednesday, when I visited Spring Kegs in the Caf for a root beer float. There’s nothing I like better than a mix of sweet ice cream and dark, fizzy root beer … what can I say, I guess I naturally like things that float! But I made sure I got my protein too with Root Beer Marinated Pork Chops and a Grilled Root Beer Marinated Chicken Sandwich. Who knew you could do so much with a keg of root beer! But it’s not all casual dining for me! This Tuesday, April 1, I’ll be slicking back my feathers for the Raw Bar at Bruff. Anyone want to be my date? I can vouch for the tastiness of a char-grilled oyster! This event is all checkered tablecloths and all the oysters you can eat – the waiters will keep right on bringing them until they have to roll me out the door. Have I mentioned how much I love oysters? Almost as much as much as I love the fish! But I’ll have to recover from my oyster feast by Friday, because April 4 is a busy day! At 9 A.M. I’ll
be back at Gibson Quad for some grocery shopping from the Farmer’s Market. There’ll be plenty of fresh and delicious produce to choose from! There’s nothing like biting into a delicious Lady Apple, but what I’m really looking forward to is fresh strawberries from Liuzza Farm, the 50 acres that Tulane has adopted. That’s right; we have a farm of our very own! Then for lunch, I’m off to the fundraiser for NOLA Loves the Philippines, another all-you-can-eat event with authentic Philippines food! I’m bringing all my friends for this one, because it supports recovery in the Philippines after the recent typhoon. Every 100 people through the door means a fishing boat for a struggling Philippines family, and I’m all about helping get more fish onto more plates! I hope to see you all there – it’s just $6 cash for delicious food and the chance to make a difference. Come by Bruff between 11 A.M. and 2 P.M. for a bite or three! Love, Riptide
