FINDING RIPTIDE Hi, fellow Tulanians! It’s going to be a great week for tasty treats at Tulane! My delicious food studies took me to Wellness Wednesday last week, and I enjoyed giving the lowdown on the new Peak Performance Plus station with my lunchtime buddies! We enjoyed some amazing vitamin-packed greens: a Fried Chickpea and Arugula Pita Sandwich made with tangy tzatziki lime sauce and a side of Baked Sweet Potato Fries. I love when food is so tasty and gives me killer energy for flying around to new spots to eat, too! While I was all nourished, I worked up the courage to ask my lovely lady friend out to Surf and Turf Night at Bruff on Tuesday, September 30th. I’ve got our reservations for a tasty meal on both land and sea, so I’m really hoping she shares my interest in delicious food. Wish me luck – but Surf and Turf Night is about the most romantic date night you can get on the dining plan, so I think I’ve got a chance. But after I made my reservations, I got some terrible news: the pink chocolate chip cookies from last year’s October Breast Cancer Awareness Month won’t be returning this year! I was devastated. I went and squawked my troubles to Nicole Honore, an award winning pastry chef who works in Bruff, and she’s come up with a solution. She’s making pink and white iced sugar cookies just for me! If you want a cookie too, you can wear a pink shirt any Wednesday in October to get one at Bruff. And even if your pink shirt is in the wash on Wednesday, they’ll take donations to a breast cancer charity so that you can have one of Nicole’s cookies with me, too!

Back at Bruff on Thursday, I’ll be cheering up again with Grilled Shrimp Nachos made by Chef Jermaine Davis, who’s being featured in Bruff’s Kitchen on October 2nd. His tasty, cheesy seafood dish comes with homemade tortilla chips and jalapeño cheese sauce, and it’s being served for lunch from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Friday morning, I’ll be doing my grocery shopping at the season’s first Farmer’s Marke at Le Gourmet! From 9:00am to 1:00pm on the Tulane Uptown Campus, there’ll be fresh early-fall produce available for everyone to buy. A lot of it comes straight from regional farms, and there are always seasonal specialties – I can’t wait to see what they have and start figuring out how I can work it into my meals next week! The market is on October 3rd, so don’t miss it. See you Wednesday for our first round of Breast Cancer Awareness Month cookies – and wear your best pink! Love, Riptide
