New Bruff, New Me By: Siena Farrar sfarrar@tulane.edu

If you don’t follow @tulanedining on insta, then you’ve missed out on some great sneak peeks of the New Bruff and all the other changes in dining. But don’t worry; I’ve got you covered. Let’s just say, the class of 2019 lucked out. The remodeling went on all summer, and the first week has been a huge success. For all those without a meal plan (why?), I’ll give you a close up look on what you’re missing out on. I went in for a closer look with my friend, Alex B.

~some year~ in the past. In a great move, the long solo back tables are gone, freeing up a lot of space. Now, if you almost drop a plate of food, it’s not because you had to squeeze between some strangers. It’s just being klutzy. Not that I’ve done that or anything... All the tables and chairs are new and metal. Nice in terms of a sleek look, but it may be harder to sit for hours. Maybe that’s a good thing for everyone’s productivity. Alex tested to be sure.

You first walk in and you see this facelift with all of the values Sodexo and Bruff find important. The catchphrase, “Only at Tulane, only in New Orleans” sits under two monitors. It’s gorgeous. We walk up the stairs, and look inside, and…

Once the RA’s got back, things really went into full swing. The food is the same fresh Sodexo, local food that Bruff always serves. There is a personal relationship between Bruff and the farms that supply all of the food. On the look? “I love the new aesthetic,” Corinne Watson, Junior, says. “It feels contemporary. Frozen yogurt shop aesthetic.” Wow, there really has been a lot going on. The first thing I noticed was how bright it is. The lights are soft and glowing, and the bright tiling helps lighten everything up. It really feels new, bright, and modern. I was nervous. What of the Bruff of the past? Would it still be the place to linger over five bowls of cereal?

The upgrades are not just to the bones of Bruff. They have made some improvements to the menu. There’s a whole new pizza oven, fresh fish everyday. And noodle soup at the pasta bar. Bruff-to-go is open for dinner till 8pm. The year is starting out great, everyone. Get ready for a whole new level of Bruff Breakfasts.

I think so. There is so much more going on. First, the color scheme looks 2015, and not mysteriously out of
