FINDING RIPTIDE Hi, everyone! Wow, I’m happy to report that my date at Surf and Turf Night last Tuesday went as smoothly as can be. I had the Barbeque Steak and Shrimp, and my date got Chef Jonathan’s Steak and Seafood Mac and Cheese. We swapped a few bites, and I have to tell you, I can’t imagine better date food! When I got dressed the next morning, though, things took a turn for the worse – apparently my pink shirt got shrunk in the wash over the summer, and I was facing a day without a pink sugar cookie! But I remembered I can make a donation to a local Breast Cancer Awareness charity to get the cookie as well, so I got my first Wednesday treat of October. I’m happy that Dining Services by Sodexo is still doing their part to support breast cancer awareness with these cookies, so I couldn’t possibly skip a day – it would just be wrong. I’ll have to try to find a new pink shirt to get my cookie for the rest of the month. They’re available every Wednesday through the month of October. On Thursday, I made yet another shrimp-related culinary discovery when Chef Jermaine whipped up Shrimp Nachos for Bruff’s Kitchen! The jalapeño and cheese sauce was so delicious on the shrimp that I’m contemplating my own soul-food nachos. You know, I got some great cooking tips from watching the legendary Chefs Travis Johnson and Andrew Johnson cook live at the Farmer’s Market outside Gourmet Grill on Friday. Maybe I’ll try to make something with the fresh produce I picked up there. Hey, that’s a good second date – my sweetheart shares my love for seafood, so I could make a shrimp salad with all those local ingredients! Speaking of lunch dates, make sure you set yours up now for one of the most popular events at Bruff, the Artisan Lunch on Tuesday, October 7. With
piles of specially imported cheeses, plus jams and breads to go along, you’ll definitely want to bring a few friends to help you try everything on that mountain of cheese! I’ve been strategizing on how to fit as much cheese in my beak as I can between 11 and 2 … I don’t want to waste a morsel! On Thursday, there’ll be cheese again as I construct a tasty tower of goodness for Build Your Own Burger at Gourmet Grill. Could I make a double burger, or even a quadruple stack? I’m sure going to try! The event is on October 9th, again from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. – I know I’ll be there making the biggest burger I can to get me through my afternoon math class. Hey, do you want a great deal this weekend, too? If you’ve tired out your wallet over the week by forgetting your pink shirt and having to donate for your cookie, I’ve got the solution for you. This weekend, Back to Bruff will offer all-you-can-eat meals, all day, for just $6. If you haven’t been to Bruff in a while, you don’t know what you’re missing! Come in for a chance to try everything and see what I’ve been squawking about. Have a well-fed week, folks! Love, Riptide
