How to Seamlessly Blend Indoor & Outdoor Spaces Create Your Summer Sanctuary

03
04

Create a consistent colour palette

Choose a colour palette that complements both your indoor and outdoor spaces. Consider incorporating similar hues and accent colours to create visual continuity between the two areas.

Use similar styles or design features

Select outdoor furniture, accessories and décor that mirrors the styles used indoors. For example, splayed legs and curved elements are shown in both indoor and outdoor furniture.

05

Create visual connections

Arrange indoor and outdoor furniture in a way that creates visual connections between the two spaces. Place seating areas near windows or doors to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living areas.

Use rugs to anchor and create separation between different zones within an open space. You can also use focal points within each area to draw the eye. This could be a centerpiece, fireplace or large piece of furniture.

Dining outdoor

For hosting season, keep a carafe nearby for easy serving of water or your favourite summer drink. Heavy coasters are a great addition to elevate your outdoor tablescape and protect surfaces. Trays are an outdoor hosting essential to easily transfer snacks and drinks.

14
15

Pay attention to lighting

Illuminate both indoor and outdoor spaces with similar lighting fixtures or styles to maintain consistency and ambiance. Choose lighting options that enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of both areas.

16

Create additional ambiance

Shielded from the wind, lanterns serve as an excellent addition to your outdoors. Citronella candles are a summer must-have to keep bugs at bay.

17

Incorporate greenery

Utilize plants and greenery throughout your indoor and outdoor spaces to create a unified natural aesthetic. By choosing matching planters, pots, and plant varieties, you can craft a cohesive botanical theme that transitions smoothly from the inside to the outside.

18
19

Arranging planters

Group outdoor planters in clusters of varying sizes to a create focal point or to define specific areas within your outdoor space. Consider placing larger planters at the back and smaller ones in the front to create depth.

Create symmetry or asymmetry

For a formal and balanced look, arrange outdoor planters symmetrically with identical (or similar) pots placed evenly on either side of a central point. Alternatively, opt for a more casual and dynamic look with planters placed asymmetrically in an organic and flowing matter.
