Now, a longtime resident of New Haven, Connecticut, the singer, songwriter and accomplished pianist is ecstatic over the December 15, 2009, digital release of his much-anticipated 5song EP, titled, “First Words,” through Universal Music Group/ INgrooves/ BroJoMass & Unionville Productions/ Massey Records; administered through BroJoMass Publishing.

Bro’ Joel received his BA in Music Education from North Carolina Central University, and was a featured vocalist/performer in the Carnegie Hall Debut of the Spiritual Heritage 4 Movements, performed by the New Harlem Symphony Orchestra, an African, Negro Spiritual, Gospel, and Contemporary Gospel/Inspirational Concert—where he performed alongside the legendary Cab Callaway, Robert Guillaume, and Simon Estes. Bro’ Joel continued to make his mark in the classical music realm and performing in such operatic works as Pagliacci, Gianni Schicchi, Madame Butterfly, Turandot, Tosca, La Boheme, and La Traviata.
The first single available for downloads and Ringtones is the memorable “BAttitudes,” written and produced by Bro’ Joel himself. God is good, and He is good all the time,” says the singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, whose resident place of worship is Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church in New Haven, Connecticut. “First Words” also includes such inspirational and memorable anthems as “I See You (Remember Me)”, “Serve the Lord”, “Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled”, and “Praise the Lord”.
Recording commercial jingles, songwriting, collaborating with Pop and R&B artists and teaching music to students provided Bro’ Joel with the diversity and passion needed to be continually successful in the business of music. He is influenced by the likes of Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin and Donnie McClurkin, as well as such R&B icons as the late greats Luther Vandross and Barry White, in addition to Freddie Jackson, Teddy Pendergrass, and a host of others.
